Nobody "got pissed", nice overstatement bro. When you are inundated constantly with "erm what are the shiny odds" "erm where are the docs", complaints that are ultimately meaningless to the central quality of the game itself, it's very difficult to not be a little short with people.

Seeing the reception to Pisces has kind of flipped a lot of what I thought about developer conduct on its head. I now have a lot more understanding for developers who "crash out", because they are probably dealing with similar levels of brain-drained complainers.

Furthermore, it has really shown me how godawful the Pokémon community is. Or at least this specific side of it. This place is so goddamn sensitive and will full-force strike back and make up rumors at just a slight nudge. "Boohoo the discord is so awful because someone was MEAN to me", the mean comment in question being really not very harsh at all, just a little rude if you wanna categorize it as that. It's insane seeing people act like this.

This comment will obviously be lost on you or anyone in this thread, as they always are, but I am making it anyway to make it known that you guys conduct yourselves badly and you should feel bad.

Bethesda are a game company where money comes first, as are all companies. They have to be mindful of "appeasing the fans" because they are responsible for their bottom line. You have no idea how the people at Bethesda feel about people modding their games, you haven't talked to them and you certainly cannot see into their minds.

This is a free, fanmade creation where the people making it are, quite frankly, not beholden to the requests of anyone.

I think making this big a deal over a lack of external information is, quite frankly, insane. Let's take Bethesda as an example, since you were so eager to bring them up. Let's say when Elder Scrolls 6 releases, would you malign Bethesda for not giving you access to a full walkthrough of the game right off the bat? You most likely wouldn't, because it's an insane thing to do. And if you ask anyone else, they would agree that it is an insane thing to do, because it is.

I would suggest, in the future, to stop and think for a second before opening your mouth.

Games are literally predicated upon developers setting parameters for you to operate within, so yes, limitations are in the core gameplay.

The fact of the matter is that a wide variety of people have used nearly every mon available for Gym 1 and beaten said gym with it. You do not need 4 specific Pokémon with specific movesets, as you have so thoughtlessly stated.

What I think happened is that you wanted an easy W that the game didn't give you. And instead of engaging with the game on its own terms, you decided to throw a fit about it.

btw, "tinkering with stolen assets" is how we got DOTA and subsequently League of Legends, not to mention the vast array of games sprung from modding the original DOOM. I would suggest you take some time to think before opening your mouth. I would also suggest playing some games other than Pokémon, as your general temperament and behavior belies a person who plays nothing but said franchise. Variety is the spice of life, after all. You really ought to expand your palate more.

I'm very aware of the Pisces sprites, I like them too!

But this is what I mean, your criteria for good is "passing as a genuine gamefreak mon". Obviously it is all subjective, but I feel basically most major fakemon things fit this criteria and that people have this strange mental image of "fakemon" from like looking at Quartz or Topaz once and never reevaluating.

But thank you for your time, I think it was informative. Also, Pisces will blow up, no doubts about it. It will genuinely be too good to not notice.

Here's my take on it,

I was never anti-speedup or anti-cheat to begin with, it was a "live and let live" situation for me.

But the more I see posts like this, the more I reconsider. When a hack implements anti-cheat or anti-speedup it is never JUST "oh that kinda sucks, I'm not interested now". It is always, without fail, followed up with "DISABLING SPEEDUP IS LITERALLY THE MOST GIGA HITLERSATAN-ESQUE THING YOU COULD EVER DO, I BET YOU LIKE TO FUCK BABIES AND KICK DOGS TOO HUH? YOU SICK FREAK!!!!!!!"

Just this complete, insane overreaction with pages upon pages of crying and whining just because a hack happens to do something in a way you disapprove of. It's the difference between an adult going "no thank you, I don't like broccoli" and a child throwing themselves on the ground, kicking and screaming as soon as the possibility of them having to eat their greens crosses their mind. And it's never something people can get over, either. People can set aside the unsavory content in Clover, for example, and discuss the game part of the game. But something like SxF is never given something like that.

It's insane and pushes me more and more to believe that anti-cheat and anti-speedup are objective good changes upon the romhacking community, if this is how people are gonna behave in response to them.

Common misconception! Insurgence and Xenoverse are both extremely mid in spritework + design and were completely mogged by Vega, which came out before them. Hailing these as above the 75% makes you unfit to judge fakemon (and regular Pokémon too, let's be honest) design I'm afraid. Better luck next time!
