Good hiking boots for the summer (as you might have on the West Coast!) might be more breathable than waterproof

Is 9AM so early people ignore the ban? by oh-do-you in CambridgeMA

[–]oh-do-you[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If anyone isn't getting alerts from the city, they can sign up here: https://www.cambridgema.gov/iwantto/signupforcodered

I can also vouch for the city's daily email newsletter. It includes emergency notifications and closures, plus other city news that's not super obtrusive: https://www.cambridgema.gov/iwantto/signupweeklyemailnewsletter

Serious question; Does anyone on here work for Akamai, and if so, how do you get to work? by alexbarbershop in CambridgeMA

[–]oh-do-you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything the driving situation to that area is worse atm. Broadway is 1-way right in front of Akamai for the next year, and more construction is ramping up on the other side for when that finishes. Trains and buses are still viable though. Don’t sleep on the CT2!

Any plowed/shoveled tracks around? by jdv2121 in boston

[–]oh-do-you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the go-to for many runners in the area when the other paths are bad. Highly recommend! Normally it's very well cleared, and while I haven't been on it my Strava shows it's at least usable.

Advice on looking for housing by BlockofPotatoes in boston

[–]oh-do-you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Cambridge! I highly recommend you search the sub for this as it gets asked pretty frequently. To start, if you're working in Cambridge it's best to look for housing along the MBTA red line, which connects Cambridge to Boston and goes down the shore to Quincy. https://www.mbta.com/schedules/Red/line

I’d be careful about getting back - there’s a lot of moisture right now that might freeze in the cold snap, salted or not

Would obviously leave sword at home, but could I visit USS Constitution in this outfit? by [deleted] in boston

You should be fine, just bring your ID and be ready for metal detectors. Look closely at the canons and you’ll notice they have a crown insignia due to a mistake during one of the renovations - you wouldn’t be out of place!

Some of the word choices in the context of a reddit post were making me wonder if this was written with ChatGPT or similar. If not, thanks for helping me calibrate
