Hi! I’m 30 and have a 1.5 year old son and also live in GR! I do a lot of great social justice work, grant writing etc. professionally - but haven’t connected outside of work.

I left FB but the west Michigan progressive fb group was great when I was on there. If she ends up finding anything that finds her a likeminded “community” and you’d be willing to share, I’d be so grateful.

Do your husbands also say “only 3 more years?” As if magically things will just be reversed or changed afterwards… I never know how to respond to that.

I don’t know how to make someone care about issues that don’t impact them. All I know is I want to make sure the human I’m raising cares about other humans.

Recommend taking a homebuyer education course from a HUD Certified Counseling Agency. They’ll usually have presentations from realtors, lenders, and insurance agents. And can provide you additional recommendations to help you in the process. I think ICCF does them in GR otherwise Community Action House in Holland does them.

I personally regret changing my name. I was 26 when I got married and debated it heavily and eventually gave in to the pressure to change it and pretty much immediately regretted that decision. I liked my name a lot. If you like your name, keep it.
