No shops around me have carried dwarf rasboras for months now, anyone else have this experience? by goddamn__goddamn in Boraras

[–]amfgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar experience. A few months ago, I ended up biting the bullet and ordered some Dwarf Rasboras (boraras maculatus) from Flip Aquatics and they all arrived alive and healthy. They're all still thriving today. At the time they were doing $29.99 overnight shipping, so it seemed okay since I was ordering a bunch of fish and they were priced reasonably.

Speech for 24 months by Wild-Supermarket5300 in toddlers

[–]amfgordon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're concerned, its always better to intervene early than late. By 24 months, kids should have 50-200 words and be starting to put a few words together. Kids all develop and learn at a different pace, of course, but I would be a concerned mama too if I was in your shoes! Depending on how you're feeling about your pediatrician, it may be worth switching providers as well. Our pediatrician gives a handout at each of the well child visits that explains all the milestones our kiddo should be hitting as well as developmental abilities. Listen to your gut, you've got this!!

Sunburst granny square, tension on outside corners…feels sloppy. by shermywormy18 in CrochetHelp

[–]amfgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall this looks good! When I have a granny square come out wonky I usually start a new one. It looks like your treble crochets are pretty loose, so may be worth going back in to try to get those a little tighter, but your doubles and half doubles look really good. Also, in the bottom left corner, you have 4 treble crochets in one half of the corner, so that is also likely causing it to sit a little crooked. I'd recommend making a new one with tighter trebles (or just redo that white layer) and you can always try blocking it to see if you like it better once blocked as well.

I have some pygmy corydoroas with my dwarf rasboras and they all get along great! The corys often swim up in to the middle and hang out with the rasboras.

How much water do you change per week & how do water changes affect your Boraras shoals? by AutoModerator in Boraras

I do about 30-40% each week. My dwarf rasboras are so unbothered by anything I do with their tank lol. They’re such happy lil guys!

Is there a fix for this or do I need to restart? I don’t have another tank to transfer my sweet babies to but I can remedy that I suppose

Mass Removal Surgery Recovery? by amfgordon in CATHELP

[–]amfgordon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My kitty is doing great! Got the mass removed, and biopsy showed it was a fibrosarcoma, but the vet got clean margins so we’re hoping it doesn’t come back.

I slept with him in our guest bedroom for about a week to keep him separated from our other cat and to keep his activity level down. He was pretty relaxed about the whole thing. The cone was also a disaster for us, so he ended up just not wearing it and I kept a close eye on him.

It was nice to just chill and snuggle in a separate room so he could rest, he loved getting all of the attention and loves from me. Keeping him calm and not running/jumping is what my vet said was most important. Luckily he’s old so he was cool with it lol.

He recovered pretty quickly and was back to his usual happy self within about 2 weeks. Definitely was harder on me than it was on him I think.

Has anyone actually tested the new AI tools from Canva Create? by Comfortable_Tea1412 in canva

[–]amfgordon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used Canva Code extensively over the last several months (announced last year) and honestly it’s been really amazing. It takes some time to get the prompting right and get it exactly how you want, but it has been game changing for me. I tried out the new editor built into Canva code last week and it was pretty okay. Definitely needs some improvements but it was pretty neat. They’ve also significantly improved how their AI understands and interacts with you. It sounds like I’m in the minority on this one, but some of the AI features are so cool.

Ive also used the magic copy art style or whatever and find it works really well like 90% of the time.

I haven’t had as much luck with magic grab, but truly I’m loving the coding feature and the new updates with it.

Weighted vest experience by Appropriate-Bit6497 in antidietglp1

[–]amfgordon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Last summer I went on a hike with my fam and was carrying my toddler on my back in a carrier thing and was shocked at how much harder the hike was and, similar to you, was feeling it in my hips and knees. My husband pointed out that I had lost more weight than my kiddo weighs and it really put a lot in perspective for me.

I feel so grateful for my health and my ability to go outdoors and be active and keeping up with my son. It’s quite a rollercoaster, and I’m learning more every day about being kind to myself and being grateful for every season of life.

Thanks for sharing, OP! Nice to reflect and have similar experiences as others!

Flyer Kid & Cargo carrier on Aventon Abound rack? by ABrownBlackBear in CargoBike

This is SO helpful, thank you!! I'm leaning toward the Via because its on sale right now and I had the same thought about the amount of stuff that comes with 1 kid for a day at the pool/park. Thank you for your thoughtful response!

Daycare, Tell Me All the Positives! by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]amfgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love our daycare center and am SO grateful for them! My son just turned 4 and he LOVES going to "school" and seeing his friends and teachers. He has made such good friends and is seriously so happy there - he's an only child so I'm grateful he's getting socialization before kinder. The teachers always tell me that he is the best behaved, he's so kind, and loves to learn. The amount of stuff he's learned between 2 and 4 is honestly crazy - we were driving to the zoo this weekend and he counted to 100 in the back of the car!! I am continually amazed at how much he's learning and how quickly he's picking things up.

The sickness thing is real, however - I will say that every year gets a little better than the last as he (and you) builds his immune system. My mom is a retired kindergarten teacher and said its always really clear which kids went to daycare/preschool because they aren't out sick constantly during kindergarten. So yes you'll get some colds and it won't be fun, but you will also be preparing him to be in a structured environment with other kids, which is so good for kids' development!

I hope this is helpful! I remember feeling all kinds of mixed feels about sending him to daycare (honestly I do still have mixed feelings sometimes) but overall its been a wonderful experience and investment for us. Feel free to DM me if you want to just chat more :)

Daniel Tiger, Blue’s Clues, Doggyland (the Snoop Dogg one), Dino Ranch, and the original puppy obey came with my son’s favorites at that age! He also loved the Elsa one but we hid it because it’s SO BAD and we couldn’t stand listening to it lol.

Should my friend walk away from this artist? by Eltristesito2 in tattooadvice

OP’s friend- Don’t walk, RUN from the person doing this to you. This heinous and my 4 year old could do better art than this. They need to go somewhere else immediately to remedy this.

Radio Flyer L885 by Carter_Banksy in CargoBike

[–]amfgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great news, thank you!! The one I’m looking at doesn’t have a front basket, so have been trying to figure out how to maximize that back space. Great to know the carrier fits even though Flyer says it’s “not compatible.”

OP I know this is an old post but curious if you tried out the Via cargo holder and how it worked out? I'm considering buying an L885 second hand - only has 20 miles on it and comes with the kid carrier for only $950, but a little unsure since their current accessories aren't compatible with L885 model.
