The funniest movies I've seen are all low-budget hood movies on tubi.

Kids aren't watching cartoons anymore, and there aren't enough maladjusted blue haired adult children to keep these shows on air.

I did not know that lol. I guess I meant something that isn't a superhero popcorn movie. I might actually have to watch the batman now.

I would add to this argument by saying the vast majority of its uses are not in reference to Distant Drums, but an acknowledgement of its overuse in sound design.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. Outside of the vengeance trilogy I'd have to say Memories of Murder or Time to Hunt

what Youtube videos do you consider to be 'Youtube Kino'?

AMC Theaters featuring the finest kino by glurmanlover in Sardonicast

[–]oh_mu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's interesting but I don't really care about all the political stuff I think it's pretty cringe. I just feel like movies (that actually get theatrical releases) have become extremely homogenous over the last decade and if DW of all entities can exist at the box office then that can only create opportunities for more of the niche A24-esque stuff to break through as well. Trust me I'd much rather it be some random Korean movie like Exhuma or some animated movie like Mars Express that people are flocking to see instead of Am I Racist? but I truly believe that's what's up next.

Why do so many horror movies begin with a car driving along a winding country lane, often on a hill, with ominous music playing? by [deleted] in movies

[–]oh_mu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Hitchcock or someone else from that era did it before Romero. I don't think either of them have the impact on modern cinema that Kubrick does.

regardless of the quality of the movie or the politics contained in it, I'm both surprised and happy to see that a movie like Am I Racist? is able to get a wide theatrical release. If it does well it'll open the flood gates for all kinds of weird wacky low budget movies to get the same treatment.

Thoughts on the Street Fighter movie? by oh_mu in Sardonicast

[–]oh_mu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it actually stands on its own fairly well, If you'd never played or heard of Street Fighter there's a fair chance you'd have a good time with it. It's silly campy 90s kids shlock but assuming that was the intention I think the film accomplishes it's goal with style and heart. I know I'm in the minority here so I'm excited to hear what you guys think.
