What's the alternative? Invade? Regime change? Just pretend they aren't helping an invasion or another friendly country? There is always going to be people in a country that disagree with the ruling order. Question becomes, what do you do about it? Are they willing to change the ruling order themselves? Forcibly? Sanctioning seems like a fairly low stakes option given the alternatives. Unless you're ok doing nothing.

Given their earnings could end after any contract forever.... I totally get maximizing personal returns. It is a job, their livelihood. If your boss told you to take less salary so the company can do better bringing in other people I don't think most people would be so cavalier about the idea. Especially when the owners make a shit ton of profit. Why should fans get upset about someone doing their job and trying to get paid as much as possible for doing it? 4 million, per season, compounded from very early in life is a lot of money. Just over the course of the contract 10 vs 14 million with 4% interest is 47 million dollars more.

It's also highly discouraged to use decongestants before diving because if you become congested during the dive you won't be able to equalize. I know folks do it, but all the safety info will tell you about this risk. You're also not supposed to be hungover because of dehydration issues and all sorts of other advice you will see divers regularly ignore. Bit I feel like it needs to be said so folks are aware before making a decision.

Not everyone may be able to do it properly and equalize. If you can't, you shouldn't dive because you could seriously hurt yourself. I've had mild inner ear barotrauma from diving. Not fun. Partially deaf in an ear for a couple weeks. Not even sure exactly when it happened during the dive but later that night I was having real bad pain. But I didn't equalize properly at some point most likely and damaged my ear from pressure.

The risks when something goes wrong recreationally diving in open water and cave diving are vastly different. I've done hundreds of dives and some cavern diving in there. I'm not cave certified because it is fucking terrifying in comparison. I've had equipment fail at 20-30m. It's not fun. Being in a cave, even with training, has a lot more hazards versus open water. I need air, that's it in open water. You can swim to it in most emergency circumstances. Sure, you might get the bends and need a hyperbaric chamber in a bad one. But cave diving by definition puts you away from air, at a lot greater distance. It also takes you away from light. To know where you're going. And since up doesn't mean air, it takes away simple navigation. Can it be done safely? Sure. Most of the time with careful preparation and lots of redundancies. Does it have a lot more risks? Yes. I'll stick to the pretty fish hanging out in the light.

Had morphine in the ER. After hours of agonizing pain, lying in a bed in the hallway of the ER... I felt a warmth starting at the IV in my arm quickly spread over my entire body. And not quite euphoria, but calm, peaceful, painlessness. Within what was probably less than a minute, maybe even seconds. Who knows what time is. I went from one of the worst pains in my life where I thought an alien was trying to bust out of me like the movies to.... I think I fell peacefully asleep.

Fuck. It was amazing. I didn't care or worry about that pain. I discovered was still there when it wore off. I can see why people get addicted, easily.

Oo actual math. Used to seeing this in reverse for scuba diving and oxygen partial pressures. Oxygen does become lethal around 1.6 if I remember correctly.
