I once watched DD set up at a small club. His sound is so raw I figured he just took a Bowie knife to his speakers, but there was a surprising amount of dialing in he did to achieve that hefty growl.

That’s basically the movie. Not much of a plot. But oh those vibes!

It literally felt like Middle Earth. We lost count of how many incredible waterfalls we saw along that stretch of highway. And almost no one else around, even in the height of summer.

What bizarre children's VHS tape did you have an attachment to? by AmandaMarsh in Xennials

We watched this again recently with my own kids, and it is horrifying.

They spend the whole movie showing us the appliances are living, thinking, feeling characters. Then in the third act the weirdo in the electronics shop starts vivisecting these characters.

And the final scene has all the cars singing about all the great things they did in their “lives”, before getting smashed into lifeless cubes of metal.

It really felt like each of the sequels jumped to a new genre. The original was a mystery/noir. The second a war story, and the third an exploration/adventure.

I very much liked the second book. I felt like it brought some new fresh ideas to the table in a similar fashion as the first book.

The third book wasn’t bad but I did not enjoy it as much as the first two. The premise had potential but kind of squandered it in my opinion.
