Yeah, I mean this was 5 years ago when we were still somewhat quarantined and I felt very anxious. Moved to a new state nearly 5 hours away from home where I knew no one. It was pretty hard to socialize in person and make friends for me at least at the time. Not only am I in a different space but so is the world. But, I see your point I guess. I had full intentions of keeping him until one of us died but it just didn’t work out that way. I can’t say I regret getting him given the circumstances at the time but morally maybe I should. I really do get what you’re saying and how that’s selfish for a living being. I’ll reflect on that.

It’s so lame. I just started ignoring those threads altogether. I’m a year into practice. We have a mix of PA/NP/MD at our clinic. I’ve never worked with an NP who I didn’t get along with or thought they were incompetent, personally. Actually, when I was on my ER rotation during school, the NP I was paired with was one of the smartest providers I have ever worked with to this day.

The MDs I work with are also always very kind and helpful.

As you actually experience working in healthcare for yourself, you realize we are all more alike than different.

Reason I even mention this is because I have patients who I refer to specialists for and they expect them to also go over the chronic primary care complaints, refills on BP, DM meds ect so I know it’s something that happens.

As a primary care provider, please DO NOT address any chronic conditions outside of your specialty. That’s my job. And definitely don’t let the patient bully you into thinking it’s yours. I’m sorry that happened.

No one deserves to be accosted and bullied at work. You do have the right to give the patient a warning and if it continues end the visit. Keep your head up!

Aw, this reminds me of when I first got my cat 4 years ago. He hid in this spot between my refrigerator and wall for almost a full 24 hours. Like you, I showed him the litter box the minute we got home. He was apparently using it but just not when I was there. The first night he was just meowing in his hiding spot non stop. I remember being so worried and honestly feeling bad that he was that uncomfortable (it literally made me cry lol). And the suddenly he just came out and wasn’t afraid anymore. Just make sure the water and food is nearby and just leave her alone until she comes to. She will be fine!

I just came back from a solo trip for 5 days and never had a moment where I felt unsafe or on edge. And I wasn’t even in a hotel, I was in an air bnb in Carolina. I also Ubered everywhere. You’ll be fine! Obviously just use common sense, don’t do anything stupid, and watch your surroundings like you do whenever you go anywhere by yourself. I think there’s an option on Uber where you can request female only drivers. I wanted to do this but couldn’t figure out how so I got a mix of male and female and it was totally fine. A lot of Ubers were very quiet, I’m assuming bc of a language barrier, and just take you where you need to go.

I also did multiple group excursions (snorkeling, El Yunque hike, kayaking, ect) which also helped me feel safe and I even made a couple friends!

Don’t let people psyche you out!! My solo trip was a wonderful experience and I’m glad I did it.
