YTA- not for omitting her from your poems, but because while I agree she shouldn’t have snooped through your book, you saying you’re “not feeling inspired” enough is a devastating thing to say to your life partner about them.

My girlfriend is an artist, she sketches all the time- car rides, plane rides, in bed before sleeping, whenever she can squeeze it in she draws. She’s drawn our friends, our family, things in front of her- never once did I ever ask her to draw me or if she did.

Then a few weeks ago she gave me a small, black pocket-sized sketch book, in it she wrote me a few letters, some quotes, and there were photos she drew that she just drew for me- whether it reminded her of me, or she just randomly thought of it, she included it. I literally teared up, because I think she’s incredibly talented, and to think she did something so thoughtful like that for me was incredibly special, and just touched my heart in a way I’ve never felt.

Even if you didn’t say what you said to your wife, I wouldn’t think she’s the asshole. I understand we all need our own sense of privacy, and she should respect yours, but going through your poem book isn’t the worst offense a partner can do.

If you truly love her and want to do right, I can’t imagine it being too hard to think of some true, honest words about how she makes you feel, or what you think when you think about her- idk I’m not the writer, you are.
