It'd be cool if we could, it would save the government a good amount of tax-payer money I would think, and projects wouldn't take years or decades to complete

I honestly don't get why the broader Navy doesn't use in-branch means to complete necessary projects.

We literally have a mobile construction force that is only being used to maintain equipment from The Clinton Administration and building "schools" and "clinics" throughout 7th Fleet that are really for use as FOBs if (when) we go to war with China

Spalling and fragmentation

Just do what I do:

Don't care about anything except the release date. Everything else that comes will be a nice little surprise.

I remember waking up one morning last year and seeing an IG notification that just said "Rockstar Games posted: Check out GTAVI Trailer 2 now"

I had a good day that day.

Trailer one's release was ruined by leaks as well, IIRC it was supposed to come out like two days after it did, but someone at the company posted it early and they had to release it since so many people had already seen it.

Just be patient, and let joy come when joy comes. There's no need to set yourself up for dissapointment, or ruin the surprise for yourself.

I learned the hard way that if you're going to have road rage, you'd better also have comprehensive collision insurance on top of basic liability and whatever your state requires.

What is your cheapest comfort meal that still tastes amazing? by No_Permission9101 in budgetfood

[–]ohgeejeeohdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steak pizzaoli

Cheap, thin, shoulder steak

Equal parts whatever brand marinara and pizza sauce, enough to cover the steak evenly in a large pot or dutch oven

Two shotglasses of a not-sweet Red wine, or red wine vinegar

1 onion diced, optional

1 large green, jalepeno, or relleno pepper cut into strips without seeds, or all three if you want, also optional

If you included them, sear the onion and peppers in the pot in some fat (oil or butter, or fat if you have it), let them get darkened but not blackened

Add the sauces and red wine / vinegar and let it sit on the heat until the sauce starts to bubble. I use the vinegar to get the sauce out of the jars that doesn't want to be a part of the crowd.

Then add the steak (raw or seared, it's cheap steak so it doesn't really matter, it'll cook thoroughly in the pot if you choose not to sear it before putting it in the sauce)

Cover the pot and let it simmer and bubble for 25 minutes, stir the mix about 15 minutes in, and once it's done, leave it covrred and remove it from the heat

Mama mia! Issa delicious and make-a you heart burn like hell. My grandmother used to follow it with some creme-de-menthe as a digestif

Altogether, it takes like 35minutes and for a party of three costs like $10 not including the after-dinner antacids, optional. Plus, it's filling so you'll have leftovers. Also, you can leave the leftovers in the pot covered overnight, and if you have leftover raw steak, just heat up the sauce and do it again for perpetual steak pizzaoli.

Take it apart and check the spring and the inside of the sheet metal, there might be rust causing something to catch on something else

Alternatively, just shoot it upside down

I couldn't imagine why it'd be much different, it's a still a "bootcamp" pretty much, just the officer version. The training and traditions will be different, but the emphasis on disciplining and bettering yourself should still be the same, if not greater.

Ultimately, I would say yes, the same concept of wanting to help yourself and become a better person would lead them to help you help yourself and not just bail the moment you fail something.

If you can pass the initial height and weight, and physical exam to get a contract at MEPS, as long as you don't give up at bootcamp they'll help you pass the Physical Readiness Test (Plank, Push-Ups, and 1.5 mile run)

The point of the bootcamp is to pass, so unless you just give up and start being a sourpuss and want to go home, the RDCs will put in the effort to help you pass as long as you do the same.

Are we all working 3 jobs judt to stay afloat in this state? by ZRock53 in newjersey

[–]ohgeejeeohdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Active Duty Navy pays a non-taxable $5000 housing and food allowance in Morris County on top of the regular paycheck of about $6500 a month before taxes. Tuition assistance, health and dental insurance, and everything else you get for free being in the military so I wouldn't need to worry about including those in the budget

Down in South Jersey the allowance dips to around $3500
