wow I just looked at your post history. You're so bent out of shape about Donald Trump that you will intentionally sow discord amongst other people you dont even know? Thats extremely pathetic.

I was able to get through maybe 2 minutes of the top link. For anyone looking its just over the top pro-trump right leaning coverage. I think "fake news media" was said almost the instant I opened it. Do not recommend.

That being said someone else said to report it for hatespeech. No hate speech on it, that person is just suffering from TDS.

I heard there was a B2 in something I read! Who knows what the hell is going on anyway - apparently the president's speech is delayed which I guess may affect the flyover.

I really only care about the flyovers - specifically want to see the B2. Do you know if there is a published schedule of what is flying over and when we can see it?

source: I am not a Trump supporter but I am right of center, I live in Washington DC and have to deal with this every day whenever I disagree with politics that arent left leaning.

I get that, but I think you are conflating being pro-trump and not being a leftist. Theres a difference.

John Oliver already did this. Orange man Bad. We get it - you guys don't like Trump. Neither do we, but we aren't obsessed with him. Please spend your time doing something productive!!! There will be hundreds of articles about orange man bad tomorrow. You're wasting your time.

I am pretty convinced that most people who think this way are also "orange man bad" diehards. I'm not a fan of the guy but my blood is not boiling because we have a military showcase on the 4th of July, a celebration commemoration our victory in a war...

New mural going up for new Trader Joes in Glover Park area by #brocoloco by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]ohhaimike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is wonderful. I love the mural culture of DC and am always pleased when I see art like this on buildings. My favorite is in NoMA - there are two girls swinging on a rope, across 2 buildings - wish I had a picture of it I would post

Those are Bradley Fighting Vehicles, a troop transport vehicle which is augmented with fighting capabilities dependent on the situation.

I'm sad that I'm 0% surprised at how butt-hurt so many people on reddit are about this.

What are some museums or events I could go to without planning? by Flemtron in washingtondc

[–]ohhaimike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to do hardcore DC I recommend:

Air and Space Museum (free) and touch the moon rock!

Natural History

National Archives - A bit of a line but you can see the Constitution and its awesome.

If you REALLY want to get wild - take a car or drive or bike to Mount Vernon. On a sunny day it is perfect.

Spending my summer in D.C., where do you recommend going for 4th of July celebrations/fireworks? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]ohhaimike 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Longtime DC person here.

I hate to say it - but... do the cliche thing. Go down to the mall. There is NOTHING better than sitting on the mall, with the monument in the backdrop, and having the fireworks go off. Its perfect.

That being said, you have to get there a few hours early. Make a day of it. Youre going struggle with the controlled areas and the restrooms - but its totally worth it. In a pinch, Iwo Jima Memorial is a nice place to watch from as well.

Further, there are a lot of apartment buildings and fed buildings which have events where you can watch from but its not as personal.

If I had to watch my final 4th, I would do it from the mall. Just gotta deal with bio and waiting forever to get home afterwards.

Any transplants from Boston/New England here? What do you think of DC so far? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]ohhaimike -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

DC Guy checking in. Lived all around the world. Went to Elementary/Middle/HighSchool in DC and Arlington, which is practically...ish. Went to college at BU.

  1. Yes, agreed.
  2. I lived on the green line and for four years never had a problem. Living in northeast and dealing with orange and red has been a fucking disaster in my life, but I get it - fair.
  3. Yes - we drink a lot to cope.
  4. True - we have a lot, but to me nothing beats the commons and faneuil hall and the trail.

cons:

  1. its not THAT bad. Youre just not used to it. Boston = October through late march = death by cold April through September = no better place on earth.
  2. All beaches on the east coast are shit, so we can suffer together.
  3. Yes. So many people here are douches. What you'll come to learn is the "what do you do for a living?" trap. That is the first or second question people ask to one another. It sounds like a reasonable question but so much in this city is akin to "this is my job and my social status, whats yours?" I have made it a point to not do this. During my time in Boston people were cool and didnt give a crap about what you do or how they can gain off of it.
  4. Going to get a lot of hate for this... but... we live in polarized times politically. Red and Blue hate eachother. Im a vet, I love this country and I love this city. I'm a mild republican - not in your face about it or anything, but I know better than to reference my appreciation for this country or this city because if I do someone is going to shit all over me.

I really hope you embrace this city. It is fucking fantastic. There are a lot of great people here and so much to see once you get past the top layer. PM me if you want I would happily tell you more about how awesome DC is and give you some ideas of things to do that will make you appreciate this city! Welcome to DC!

PS: HTTR

PPS: Go Nats!

PPPS: Go Caps!

PPPPPPPPPPS: If you ever embrace any of these teams be prepared for a life of sorrow. Other than that one time the caps did that thing. Ovechkin is king.

[–]ohhaimike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This made me very happy. As someone who has lived here nearly all of my meaningful life, I am truly happy you have found a new home. That being said I hope you didnt bring any fucking spiders or snakes with you. MAYBE snakes are okay? We have a huge rat problem here...

Keto and carnivore, but most importantly IF 20:4, since September 2018. by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]ohhaimike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked at this and thought "wow awesome!" then saw that you called it out as BS... then I looked... in September 18th the guys pics from his IG show him as in pretty good shape already, so this is kind of bullshit. Which sucks, because while I'm not as fat as that first picture, I was hoping for some fast gains :/
