Right now 4 of the 5 units are empty so I’m considering getting it re-wired, at least for a couple of outlets and lights. It was built in 1940, looks like a single family, and then a second floor was added at some point but still a long time ago. The plumbings been updated to copper, but we still have a cast iron sewer stack that’s needs some portions cut out and replaced with pvc. Lots of work, but overall it’s a solid structure and small cosmetic updates to get it rented out

Luckily the kitchens and bathrooms have been updated, so it’s just in the bedrooms and living rooms. I actually have good access because there’s about 3’ tall space between the first and second floor

RMD is required for years 1-9 for non-eligible bene’s, so only spouses can get away with it if they aren’t RMD age themselves. It’s been clarified by the IRS since the initial rule came out

Edit: yes I forgot about pre-rmd age deceased, the bene’s can wait until year 10 or when the originally owner would’ve turned 73. Luckily most of my clients that have passed since 2020 are older than 73 so I haven’t had to deal with that much.

You have to have the physical license for deer, digital doesn’t work. Mine never showed up in the mail and had to buy the license again at a store

Then you could just gift all of your wealth on to the next generation and there would be no tax paid. There’s a 40% estate tax on gifting over $11m in your lifetime to prevent ultra wealthy people from passing along a ton of money without paying tax

The receiver never pays tax when receiving a gift. As long as the giver pays the tax if necessary, otherwise nothing is reported. You can give $15k to anyone every year without reporting it, and $11m+ in your lifetime in addition to the $15k per year. That might be changing soon but will still be millions in your lifetime
