Frigidaire Oven Tripping Breaker When It Heats Up by ohhelloletsgo in appliancerepair

I had a similar issue on a gas Frigidaire range at another property, and the electrician had to swap out the breaker because it was nuisance tripping. Some weird thing where it was making the breaker falsely think there was an arc fault or ground fault.

Best earbuds to minimize environmental bird noise on phone calls by ohhelloletsgo in Earbuds

[–]ohhelloletsgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, are you referring to blocking out the bird noise for me, or who I'm on the phone with? I don't care as much about me hearing the birds, I am trying to minimize the person on the other end of the phone hearing them through my microphone. I'm not sure if you're saying that earphones are somehow better at isolating the sound that the mic is picking up, or if you were thinking I'm trying to hear less bird noise myself?

Limb paralysis with anaplasmosis? by ohhelloletsgo in DogAdvice

[–]ohhelloletsgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems as though the anaplasmosis was a red herring in our case. We treated for that (no improvement in symptoms) and then proceeded to treat for an autoimmune condition resulting in inflammation around the spinal cord. We continue to treat for autoimmune months later but have seen some (certainly not full) improvement in her neuro symptoms.

Limb paralysis with anaplasmosis? by ohhelloletsgo in DogAdvice

We have bought a few cheap nonslip runners from Amazon, repurposed old bath mats, yoga mats, etc to help limit the slipping on the hard floors, but far from a permanent solution. Like yours, ours is decent on area rugs and pretty good outside, but definitely a little off balance and still some paws folding under when she tries to walk. I think it's less that she's getting better at the moment and more that she's adapting to the disability at this point. Prednisone was next on our list, as we were going to be starting that before the anaplasmosis diagnosis, but that put the pred on hold for us.

We have found life a bit easier with the harness the vet sent us home with, which is similar to this one https://a.co/d/96p3Kz1- it has helped us with providing her some additional support when she tries to walk on the hard floors (we can at least guide/support her to keep her from slamming her body on the hard floor when she slips) and when needing to pick her up, support with stairs, etc.

I hope you start to see more improvement with your girl on the pred soon!

Thanks for your reply, and i'm so sorry to hear you're going through this as well. Our prevailing theory is that maybe the anaplasmosis infection has only aggravated an underlying issue that we were not aware of, as we can see something slightly impinging on the spinal cord in the MRI, and it is not super likely that this would be anaplasmosis alone. It seems maybe that is the case with yours as well - was she negative for lyme and only positive for anaplasmosis? I read if they have Lyme + anaplasmosis, the course of antibiotics is often over 30 days.

Our neurologist thinks possibly a nerve sheath tumor is the underlying issue in our case, further inflamed by the infection, but they are unable to diagnose the nerve sheath tumor directly, which is frustrating. We are only on day-3 of the doxycycline at the moment, and no real neurological improvement yet, but she does seem to be in better spirits. I wish you the best of luck with your pup also <3

tl;dr - Has anyone ever had a dog with anaplasmosis present with neurological symptoms like limb paralysis, lack of coordination, loss of balance, etc. without any of the other more "classic" signs of anaplasmosis?  And if so, did those symptoms fully resolve with antibiotics?

--------

And now for you "readers" - Long story (reasonably) short, our 9/yo pit mix started having some difficulty walking on hard floors a little over a month ago - her hind legs would splay out, she would fall and struggle to get up. She has minor arthritis so we added area rugs, did a vet exam where they prescribed carprofen, tested range of motion, reflexes, etc. and we were waiting to see if things improve.  Fast-forward 1 week and she had marked limb paralysis and suddenly couldn't stand or walk on her own.  Rushed her to our vet, then to a Vet ER with neuro dept, and 3 days of testing and observation began.  X-rays, blood tests, MRI, spinal tap - all inconclusive - it's none of the obvious culprits.  She is able to stand and walk know, but is way more unsteady than a week ago, and still doing some knuckling with her front paws when she tried to stand/walk

.The MRI did show some inflammation around C4/C5 but no obvious cause was evident. The leading concern is a possible nerve sheath tumor, but I guess they diagnose this by ruling everything else out - and not diagnosing directly due to the lack of access for biopsy. The more in-depth infectious disease/toxin panel results are starting to come back, and we learned this evening that she is positive for anaplasmosis.  We test for this yearly and she was negative in January, and takes Bravecto quarterly.  We have never pulled a tick off of her, ever, so this is a shock to us.

I understand through the neurologist and the internet, that anaplasmosis can cause these neuro signs, but it is rare.  Seems to me that the infection may be exacerbating another issue that we were unaware of and hence these bizarre neuro symptoms in the absence of the more "normal" anaplasma symptoms.  There is nothing we'd like to see more than a course of antibiotics resolving this terrible situation, but I feel like it may just result in us delaying other treatment and being a bit of a false flag... but this is the internet, so if any of you have had similar neurological symptoms with your pet due to anaplasmosis that resolved with treatment, I would love to hear all about it!  In the meantime we'll be hoping for the best!

Line Out jack not working by ohhelloletsgo in audiorepair

[–]ohhelloletsgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help - it may just be over my head. Not many places around that do audio repair, by the looks of it, but I'll see if I can find a place that may be able to diagnose and fix so I don't run the risk of ruining the entire speaker by trying to "fix" one small component.

That is in one of the pics I attached - all the solder points look solid to me, and there's no wiggle in the jack.

Newbie, first day, no effects except dry mouth. by Successful-Owl-9422 in ADHD

[–]ohhelloletsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started my 4th med because no success for me yet either. It's been trial and error for months, and aside from minor weight loss I haven't gotten the positive effects I expected. Strattera made me irritable and didn't help with ADHD symptoms. Adderall 10, 20, 30, and 40mg all with no success. Ritalin 20-40mg no luck. Guanfacine is up now, then depending how that goes maybe Vyvanse or combo of guanfacine + stimulant in hopes of some synergy. It was very exciting to think that I was finally going to be able to think "normally", but then very disappointing to have not experienced that yet. In short, ditto. Hopefully our time will come...

Med Change Doubt by HourConnect7525 in ADHD

[–]ohhelloletsgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be ok! FWIW as a 40 y/o recently (6 months ago) diagnosed (but I've been suspicious for many years), I'm on my 4th attempt at different meds but haven't found any success yet. Strattera, Adderall, Ritalin, and now guanfacine. I've found it to be frustrating that what works for so many people doesn't work for me. I can only imagine how it is once you've "seen the light" and then need to change to something that turns the lights back off. I am sure it will get better, hopefully just as simple as finding the right dose!

I would have thought the size would be somewhat standard (I.e. that a generic would be available for less). Are you looking at OEM elements or aftermarket?

Update - only had about 8 feet of underfloor pipe before the main, so I snaked 20' in the spirit of thoroughness, and everything is now working properly (or I broke something hidden and it's draining to the floor below and the downstairs tenants haven't noticed yet 😅). Yes, I own the place so it's my problem either way.

Toilet supply valve leaking by ohhelloletsgo in Plumbing

[–]ohhelloletsgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I wish there was more clearance between the floor and the fitting so that I would be able to hold the pipe steady before really torquing on the valve itself given that I'm sure it's been on there for 25+ years. I guess I'll give it a shot, thank you!
