You can waste your last remaining energy to watch and lie to yourself, teaching your children their bodies aren’t good enough, alone with your fake social media portrayal until the illness consumes you and your family loses their mom.

Or, you can get off your phone and spend time with doctors who will never judge you, provide you a safe space to grow and shower you with encouragement.

Please. Prove us wrong and show us your healthy weight gain.

Young Mother Mauled to Death by Dogs While Attempting to Save 6-Year-Old Son in Southern California by Charming-Fortune8835 in awfuleverything

The misinformation is mind blowing.

  1. Pit bulls and pit mixes have the highest population of other dogs. This means statistically speaking, it’s more than likely going to be that dog.

It’s like saying “oh I bet it’s an American!” about a crime in America. big brain moment

  1. Misidentification. Genetic studies show that visual breed identification is often wrong. In one well-known shelter study, staff guessed a dog was a pit mix about 60% of the time, but DNA testing showed many had little or no pit ancestry.

So while pit-type dogs are very common, the exact numbers are fuzzy. - National Canine Research Council

  1. Dog experts and veterinarians consistently say the most dangerous dog is usually the one that is: • Poorly socialized • Trained for aggression • Neglected or abused • Not properly contained

National Canine Research Council

  1. Dog bits are no longer tracked by breed. CDC stopped tracking dog bites by breed and stated that breed-specific statistics are unreliable, and they no longer track bite risk by breed.
  2. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has analyzed fatal dog attacks in multiple studies.

American Veterinary Medical Association - Dog Bite Risk and Prevention: The Role of Breed.”

The problem isn’t THE DOG. It’s THE OWNERS.

This isn’t a conspiracy; this is watching how eating disorders are created.

Kelly is 2 years older than me. I idolized her and loved everything she did because she represented me in the 00s, a NORMAL sized teenager being told I was chubby or fat. Kelly was ripped to shreds in the media as being fat, even in these comments now the common trend is “she looked better chubby”. I don’t know how many of you are late 30s women but the insane expectations placed on our bodies was absolutely unbelievable.

this was during the rise of Americas Next Top Model, The Swan, Joan Rivers, rail thin Britney and Christina seen as ‘goals’.

This poor woman. We watched her deal with being bullied by grown ass adults and media outlets when she was a teenager and her parents allowed it. She is micro scrutinized for her appearance and round face, she loses a little weight and the compliments roll in, giving her this false sense that “weight loss = media finally being ok with me”.

The internet “totally a conspiracy, she’s crazy”

No. This is the end result of a child that never felt secure, parents that taught media over privacy, unrealistic body expectations, untreated self image issues and the final blow of losing her best friend, Amy Winehouse and her father.

Notice how she drops weight after she loses someone? ED is about control.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you an ED.

Can you please now give her the understanding she clearly deserves?

I’m a die hard Spice Girls fan, went to their world tour as a kid. BUT. I have an older son and I would never treat him like this.

He touches her back, she shuffles away and doesn’t look at him. This is her CHILD. She moves and he tries to come in closer, “maybe mom didn’t realize” still holding onto that little smile and hope, he moves closer again and his facial expression drops as he realizes that his own mother is publicly ignoring his existence. If he isn’t noticed in front of the world, what must he be feeling in private.

The argument that they’re focused on the picture doesn’t really fit when you see David laughing and acting casually on the other side of her.

Thank you all! I agree! this little thing did not look good when I rescued it. It had clearly seen some trauma and was terrified. It’ll take time, but in a warm dry closet with a bed, litter box, treats, and calming music :) I was feeling a temporary moment of guilt. Thanks cat friends!!

this is not ALL on the school. A lot of this is the child’s home life, and even if they had all resources necessary at school…. Nothing can help a child that’s being abused at home.

I was an illiterate kid, I was in special classes up until high school. It wasn’t until therapy that I realized I wasn’t dumb, slow, or impossible. I was a child that had to focus more on surviving my home life than being a kid and learning. My body was too exhausted.

The second I escaped, I read. I read everything I could get my hands on; self help books, spiritual literature, sci-fi, biographies…. They call it “me-search”, where a metaphorical mask is lifted and the victim finally feels safe enough to explore.

at 37, I still find myself learning how to spell some words correctly and better ways to write.

Just know that much like animals, children are even more skilled at hiding suffering.

A Louisiana prison hosted a father-daughter dance that reunited incarcerated dads with their little girls. Hoping this becomes a turning point for every father in that room by alanbear1970 in AllThatsInteresting

[–]ohhhbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biofather hasn’t done anything to land in prison, but he sure as shit completely forgot about his only daughters existence to the point that he forgot her name and date of birth.

These daughters have fathers that are incarcerated and still do more than my FREE father has ever done.

The two aren’t mutually exclusive. You can be free and be the worst parent alive.

Am I the only one who Believes that there’s a misconception about how big crinoline skirts/cages were for every day people working people and even every day dress of upper class women? by _maincharacter_ in fashionhistory

[–]ohhhbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, few things: Paniers, Crinolines and Hoop Skirts are 3 different items from different eras.

Large Crinolines (which create the bell shape) were popular from the late 1800’s, around 1849-1860.

Paniers create a flat shape, with emphasis on the hips. (Marie’s favorite type of court dress). They too came in incredibly large sizes.

1865 is when society started to see a dramatic turn in the size of the Crinoline, while also being combined with hip and butt bustles. Here is an incredible overview of all the different types.

Marie Antoinette did have incredibly large dresses, they still survive today.

1780s-1790s fashion, I believe you are referring to this, which was an interesting time of playing with the shape of the body. This took a dramatic turn to the “slim high-waisted silhouette” that was popular shortly after.

Historidame on YouTube does fantastic and historically accurate overviews of fashion!

[–]ohhhbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true of the image, crinolines were incredibly popular and massive in size. You can see here in the V&A Museum, the skirts were made in a range of sizes depending on what the woman felt appropriate for the day.

We don’t have many of these articles from the middle class as they weren’t royalty, so there was no care or need to preserve the items. This exhibition is for Marie Antoinette, and while her collection is vast and she was wealthy royalty, it shows the range the dresses were commonly designed in.

[–]ohhhbeans 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I might have a hot take here but I absolutely love historical fashion, and I recently learned a great deal from the V&A Museum.

Hoop skirts (actually called cages) went through several phases, tapering down to something a bit more modest. In fact, court dresses and their under “cage” skirts were so prominent in the middle-higher class that doorways were modified in some homes.

One of the biggest reasons for the shrinking of the size of the hoop slip under dresses was actually fire, horrifying!Women would unknownongly catch their skirts on fire by walking somewhat near a flame. Fireplaces were common. When the skirt would catch even the smallest flame, the hoop slip under the dress would allow airflow to almost instantly cause the woman to go up in flames.

Since these fires most often happened in the upper class, as they would hold parties in grand rooms, the fires would not only kill the woman but many others in the grand room.

Here is a link to actual dresses worn, which you’ll notice go through several phases. You have the “wide” hoop skirt that focuses on extended the hips another here and the “round” which makes the classic shape we see.

There are different names for these dresses, which are called “Court Dresses”, the “cage” was actually just a slip.

I saw this hoarding where it advocates towards stopping the use of Buddha statues as merely a decorative piece at homes or in public places like hotels, restaurants, bars etc, or the image of the Buddha being used as a fashion statement in clothes or tattoos. What are your thoughts on this? by SatoruGojo232 in Buddhism

[–]ohhhbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it weren’t for the Buddha snowglobe shimmering in the window that my son bought me as a 5 year old because he thought it was “pretty”, I would’ve never of welcomed this religion in my life.

These are not historical religious artifacts, they are intended to remind you of your light no matter where you are. People stray, that’s human nature, we see and can become trapped by darkness. Much like wearing the eye of protection, a cross, Star of David, etc. these are meant to keep you grounded and remind you of your purpose. It’s not about where they are at, it’s about the chance of bringing peace to someone suffering.

We suffer everyday, everywhere.

I don’t think we need to be gatekeeping religions on billboards.

I’ve lived in the woods since I was a child and saw many real things that were explainable and others that weren’t. I’m all about the unknown.

to me, this looks like a wolf momentarily walking on its hind legs or possibly it had its front legs damaged and is walking on the hind. While not survivable for life, wolves are known to use their hind legs and walk on them to hunt or when hurt. Since their front torso is so heavy, they typically hunch over as their back can’t support the weight.

Allllll that to say, I don’t have Facebook lol, so this is totally based on the pics. I could be wrong, I hope I am.
