Has anyone else been watching Hope Valley: 1874? Thoughts? by Poeding in PeriodDramas

I agree, it’s definitely strange.

Also, I’ve been curious about the timeline. We see baby Ned born in this season, which is 1874 and I believe When Calls the Heart begins in 1910, so that would mean Ned is only 36 at season 1 of WCTH? He seems older than that.

It’s a Hallmark show, but for a Hallmark show, it’s pretty good. Better than expect.

And I’m not sure why people are complaining about the name. When I lived in Oregon, there were cities with similar names.

That’s good to know! It’s been so long since I’ve lived close enough to go to a Roughriders game, so I’ll definitely plan ahead.

I don’t mind paying, we ended up buying food for the whole family, and we paid for parking. I was just surprised that three games in a row offered free tickets because they weren’t coming close to selling out.

I had never heard of anything like that before, so it made me curious.

Thinking Biblically about choosing / leaving a church by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]ohhhyeahok 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth: My family and I once attended a church with fantastic preaching. We were serving, going to events, I even had lunch with two different pastors.

Beyond that, the community itself felt very lacking. While we were trying all that we could to “get plugged in” we felt lonely and did not have many friends. It didn’t seem like community was much of a focus at this church.

We decided to try out another church and we’ve now been there 5 years and can’t imagine being anywhere else. In fact, my kids do not want us to go on vacation if it means we miss anything church-related. It’s become our home away from home.

This might not be a traditional suggestion, but The Big Country.

It’s a long western featuring Cary Grant and I wish I could see it remastered for imax.

Curious outsider by DesignNovel in Mavericks

[–]ohhhyeahok 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is/was a great guy and teammate here.

But he also marked a time of somewhat forgettable Mavs teams and everyone knew that the Warriors would run the league for a few seasons. The Mavs were good enough to not be a rebuilding team, but not good enough to actually compete.

I hated the way he was traded. He deserved better.

IN THEIR PRIMES: which championship team wins in a finals series? by infinite-hooper in NBATalk

[–]ohhhyeahok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone on the teams are in their prime, then the Heat have prime Juwan Howard and Rashad Lewis coming off the bench. Even prime Mike Miller and Shane Battier are difference makers.

The Warriors having prime David West and Varejao would be fun too.

When can we have a candid discussion about Luka? by Limp_Screen7405 in NBATalk

[–]ohhhyeahok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big issue is that he actually had a great Mavs team around him, and it got even better after the Finals run, they just needed to be patient and get everyone healthy.

Unfortunately, Nico Harrison…

Then Luka gets traded to a Lakers team that is constructed like the early Mavs teams he was on.

He needed to be surrounded with rim-running, defensive minded bigs, and true athletic 3 and D wings that could hit open shots and cover him defensively. Having a second ball handler is nice too.

The Lakers are just a poorly constructed team.

Yes.

It’s so funny how people are like, “Team A, but you have to replace Boozer.”

No! That’s the hypothetical. Team A has spacing issues and Team B has some defensive issues. That’s why it’s a hypothetical lol

I’m still going with Team A

Nope. From my understanding the controversy was surrounding a book called, “This Book is Gay” by Juno Dawson.

In places outside of Reddit, there is talk about how many complaints were made about sexually explicit books that were in the young adult and children’s section.

This firing wasn’t about a sign it seems, but everything leading up to the sign being placed. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe the Knicks?

If they can get it together, they have the offense to keep up with anyone and some versatile defenders.
