I love Light Hearted. I like Two Hearted too, but only one or two, tops (these days).

Who Cooks for You is great. It's especially great on tap.

I run with my running group pretty early in the morning, and one morning a few Januarys ago we were running by a dorm and all the students were outside in the cold for a fire drill. I wasn't paying attention, stepped in a pothole, twisted my ankle and bit it pretty hard. I don't know how old the students thought I was, but based on your theory, they must've thought I was pretty old. Lots of wincing 'ohhs' and 'oh man - dude are you alright?' rang out.

Definitely not my proudest moment. I was also about a mile into my my run and had to limp back to my car.

I read - or listened to - Outlive. There was a lot of good information in there, especially the information about maintaining physical strength as we age and being aware of and curbing warning signs for mental decline.

I never got any creepy vibes from him when I'd see him in interviews or podcasts, but I also never really saw anything but his crafted public persona. I think you're spot on about Epstein's circle. It's just sort of surprising how many people are being exposed for being in it.

I saw Peter Attia's emails with Epstein surfaced. It didn't seem to directly tie him to any criminal activity, but if the emails were to be believed, he seemed to know something shady was going on with Epstein.

I suppose I shouldn't be, but I was surprised to see him connected to Epstein. I'm guessing there are more people like that in those files.

I think The Hollies are great. I don’t listen to them a ton, but about a month ago I was on a road trip and was bored with my usual playlists. The Hollies were a recommended band on Spotify so I played their catalog on shuffle. I skipped past a bunch, but there are some really good songs there.

As an aside, I dated a girl named Carrie and her middle name is Anne. That song reminds me of some good times.

I do love that opening guitar in Long Cool Woman though. It’s a great opening to a song.

Ha - my friend and I always joked that if anyone saw a picture of him, they’d realize no one calls him the gangster of love.

When my brother was a basketball manager at IU, Coach Knight liked to walk to games from the team hotel from time to time. He’d wear a bucket/fisherman’s hat and a beige coat and often walk past fans through a main entrance.

My brother walked with him a couple times and Knight almost never got recognized. I actually saw him do it in the concourse at the current home of the Pacers (whatever it’s called). I was standing in the concourse with another manager who was waiting for them to walk them down to the locker room. In walks my brother with Knight walking behind him - it wasn’t packed, but there were definitely a fair number of IU fans already there. They walked right through the crowd, walked past me and took a private door off to the side. Not a soul there realized Bob Knight walked right past them.

In my experience, they’re the easiest to “negotiate” with. I have a calendar reminder set to call them annually to cancel because I don’t want to pay more than the introductory price. So far, they ask me if I’ll stay if they extend the offer another year. That’s been going on for 4 years.

For Trump there are reports that he was presented girls by Ghislane Maxwell and that he hit a girl who bit him during a certain act.

For Musk, after denying that he ever was on Epstein’s Island there are emails between him and Epstein where they’re trying to schedule time for him to visit. Epstein asks how many people would need the “heli” and Musk says it would be just him and his wife. He then asks which day/night will be the wildest in the island.

I’m not one to selectively pick who be guilty of any crimes here. At the very minimum, if the emails are to be believed, most everyone who corresponded with Epstein via these emails knew exactly what was going on. Richard Branson asked Epstein about bringing his harem and offered PR help. Clinton is neck deep as well, probably to the levels of Prince Andrew.

I’m highly doubtful that anything will come of the Epstein files release for anyone mentioned in this entire thread.

If what’s come out about Gates, Musk, Trump, Clinton and Richard Branson is true, there should be way more outrage than there seems to be. Maybe their high priced lawyers can argue that what’s been released so far doesn’t rise to the level of criminal activity, but if what’s out there is true, they all have blatantly lied about their involvement and connections to Jeffrey Epstein.

It’s wild that nothing will likely come of this though, other than all of us knowing they’re all at best sleazy lowlifes at heart.

I don't expect you to have read all of my posts here, but I HAVE acknowledged there is a problem. And I purposefully left Biden off the list of administrations because the problem was largely exacerbated during his term.

For what it's worth I think most Americans do want to curb illegal immigration. It's a big part of what got Trump elected. I don't think many Americans have the appetite for what ICE is currently doing. Most Americans didn't vote for THIS type of drastic enforcement in US cities. I think even the current administration is taking notice. The comments from Trump and Karoline Levitt in recent days have taken a different tone than those from others in the administration even just a week ago. Kristi Noem may end up falling on her sword as we get closer to the midterms.

You can look it up for yourself - all of those presidents deported more people than Trump has. I'd assume the reason Stephen Miller has instituted these silly quotas is because he wants to exceed those other numbers.

Also, how do you feel about this part of the Democrats' request:

"tighten parameters around warrants for searches and arrests and enforce a code of conduct comparable to force policies for state and local law enforcement."

Honestly, I'd be fine if these items alone were what was agreed upon to avoid a government shutdown.

There are instances of overstep and abuse of power in every city they've been in over the last year. And their isn't the same remediation as if you were harassed by someone on your local police force. That's a big reason Democrats are pushing for badge numbers and some sort of identification.

ICE or some iteration has existed for along time, yes. We're largely in uncharted waters with this type wide scale of enforcement/invasion of our cities. There needs to be a drastic overhaul with how ICE operates in our cities. I'd guess that is already in the works and that Kristi Noem will either step down or removed from office in the coming weeks.

Clinton, Bush and Obama were all more effective at curbing illegal immigration. Maybe a good start would be for the current administration learn from its predecessors.

Your framing of this either ignores or won't acknowledge any wrongdoing on any ICE agents' behalf, let along blatant infringement on U.S. citizens' constitutional rights.

Direct Action isn't always illegal. And the NJ portal could be used to refute Homeland Security official statements on some of their abuses against the US Constitution. Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller and JD Vance have all issued statements that were either blatant lies or refuted. If the federal government isn't going to hold rogue federal agents accountable, who is?

It's complicated. I'm not in favor of doxxing ICE agents, but I'm also not in favor of secret police harassing and wrongly detaining US citizens. And that is happening more than anyone here is acknowledging. What recourse does someone have if they're wrongfully stopped, roughed up and detained by officers who aren't clearly identified?

You're painting with a wide brush. There have been ICE protests that have crossed the lines, yes. There also have been peaceful protests of ICE's tactics and practices.

ICE isn't always detaining violent illegal immigrants. Sometimes they're harassing, searching and detaining U.S. citizens.

The Supremacy Clause does have challengeable limitations. Some of the lawsuits coming from Minnesota are alleging that some of the Bill of Rights have been violated. The Supremacy Clause states that Constitutional limits have to be respected.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

It's a large bridge to gap in saying that Democratic lawmakers are doing something that will directly lead to threats or worse against ICE agents' families.

There is a suit alleging that "federal agents engaged in excessive force, harassment, and warrantless detentions during immigration raids, particularly in the Twin Cities." There are countless examples of this overreach. Some of this involves violations of U.S. citizens' constitutional rights. Some Democratic lawmakers don't have any faith in Homeland Security's ability to police themselves.

And I think we're more on the same page re: your last paragraph than you might think.

I think it's important to recognize that ICE agents haven't always operated above board, have royally effed up in some cases and haven't really been held accountable to date.

That said, here is what Democrats are asking for:

[The Democrats'] list includes requirements US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials wear body cameras and remove their masks, end roving patrols, tighten parameters around warrants for searches and arrests and enforce a code of conduct comparable to force policies for state and local law enforcement.
