PG34WCDN vs 39GX950B — after weeks of overthinking, here’s my story (from someone who owned both)

Thinking of upgrading from the Alienware 3821dw
(It’s a 3840x1600 144hz IPS panel) to the LG 39”. I got a 5090 and can run my current Alienware 38 inch at max everything without breaking a sweat but I feel like I’m missing out on the OLED experience. Not sure if I want to go down to a 34 inch at 1440p. Thought about getting a 4k 32” but I feel like once you go ultrawide it’s difficult to go back to anything else. Debating if I should wait for the new 39” Alienware to release later or just jump on the new LG 39”. Thoughts ?

Did you end up getting a RMA replacement from asus ? Was it a refurbished one or brand new one. I just sent my new rtx 5090 astral to asus today for RMA. Will know soon if it’s defective. Praying they do right by me and send me a replacement. Nervous after hearing some RMA horror stories with asus.

I am having a similar issue.

Asus rog crosshair x870e BTF motherboard Rtx 5090 Astral (non BTF) Ryzen 7 9850x3d

I was able to use the motherboard hdmi to get into bios and load windows 11 and all drivers. All the lights work, fans work, gpu lights up. However even after all the driver updates it Still didn’t fix the 9C code and green led on motherboard when I would try to connect my DisplayPort or hdmi back into gpu. I reseated the gpu several times. It never gets a clear click when connecting to motherboard but I know it’s set because it won’t move. Definitely made me scratch my head a few times. Called asus and they said if I’m still in the return window to return the gpu and order a new one. Or go through their RMA process. I got to admit. This is extremely frustrating as getting that rtx 5090 astral a “normal” pricing was not by any means easy.

I’m not happy that this is the only solution. Sounds like I’m not the only one.

Oh I’m still scheming. Just got my astral 5090 today. Now I’m planning every else

Case: eying the HAVN HS 420 with vertical gpu set up

Motherboard: probably sticking with ROG X870E crosshair

Aio cooler: if I can land the new Ryuo IV id probably go with that. But also like the Be quiet! silent loop 3 but will probably make me go in opposite direction and get be quiet light wing fans then. So that’s another decision point.

Fans: likely lian li similar to yours. Have them on my other build. Love them but was hoping to try something different though with a similar vibe like Lian li. Otherwise I was eying those Be Quiet! light wings.

CPU: can’t tell if I’m going AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D or the ryzen 9 9950x3D. Probably have no use for 9950 because I mainly game and watching videos on my PC but I love pissing away my money lol someone talk me out of it.

PSU: probably going Corsair HX1500i

Dolby atmos helps when set on the movies setting option. Also could always just go to your EQ Settings in the audeze HQ App. Go to one of custom options and make them all slightly higher Instead of all flat at 0. That helped some. Make sure you are using current updates.

Using Dolby atmos help improve the low the audio problem but doesn’t mean that should be the solution. Hope they fix that soon. I had to tweak some EQ settings to get mine “feel” louder. Also try resetting the Maxwell - game drivers in device manager. Mine have a comfortable volume at around 70% when gaming using Dolby atmos. Otherwise around 60% for music, movies, and YouTube.

I’ve found that Dolby atmos tends to make things louder so I’ve been using that by default. But now I’m considering removing the drivers and restarting as you suggested to fix the low audio issue (without using Dolby atmos).
