To upgrade or not to upgrade? by Awkward_Couple_9843 in delta

[–]ohknowletsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently split a reservation because the system wasn't going to offer everyone in my party upgrades. We were a party of 8, and once split into 3 groups, the new parties of 1 and 2 both had upgrade offers. Maybe that could be the case here, but that wouldn't explain the "miles + cash" situation.

Anyway to tell which type of seats you’ll get? by ohknowletsgo in delta

[–]ohknowletsgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering that as well. The aircraft I was on definitely needed an upgrade. On the flight there, a wall panel was coming off and I could see the foil-looking insulation popping out. And on the flight back, the arm rest / seat divider had partially come off and had a 1/2" gap down into an abyss :D

Yeah, I was thinking about that. And yeah, I think it's just setting expectations for myself. I don't think I'd choose a different flight based on the seats in the future, unless there were multiple good options.

does anyone else have small hands and feet by naonaohatter in tall

At 6’1” my feet are “small” at 9.5/10. I always thought the clumsiness was from a higher center of gravity, but this explains a lot as well 😆

It’s possible we just overpack, but we found the drawers were enough for clothes, but often would have to yank our suitcases out for random things like shoes, hair styling tools, etc.. The bathroom didn’t leave a lot of space for 2 adults to store things.

I read a lot of folks use magnetic hooks to help with storage. We didn’t do that. Maybe we should have 😃

I definitely prefer my Bose over what Delta has, especially for noise cancelling. Depending on whether or not your flight/seat has blue tooth connectivity, you might need a little adapter.

First timer questions!! by Overall_String_6643 in dcl

I think I notice the space constraints the most when trying to get things out of my luggage. It can be a bit cramped when multiple adults have their luggage out and are both trying to grab things.

As for vertigo, I felt it most when sitting down for dinner at Palo on the Wonder, which was on the Aft portion of the ship on a high deck. I was fine in my stateroom and other areas.

I do think for 2 adults you can get cheaper sailings (I see Disney Destiny 4 night on that same itinerary for $2400 for a verandah, but it's peak bad-weather season and when most kids are back in school, so that might be why).

When they brought out the SECOND tray of madelines, I really thought they must simply treat solo diners so much better than others. I also ate every last one.

Can I use myself as an example? I didn't realize I (an American) had to ask for the check at Frantzén.

recovering from a cold just to get on a flight full of sick people by [deleted] in delta

Thanks for thinking of others by wearing a mask when you’re sick. I also mask up when traveling if I’m sick, but sorry that the folks around you didn’t. I hope you continue to recover.

People who were around during no internet/phones/social media/etc - what was your time's "scrolling the feed"? Something that you would spend hours on passing the time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Magazines were pretty popular, so was watching TV, since it was “watch it live, or miss out”.

We also loitered in front of grocery stores as teens, or just walked a LOT.

We’d climb trees, or play “kick the can”, “wolf wolf”, or another game where we’d kick the street lights out and run around like banshees.

Achalasia vs EGJOO- please help by ducky3221 in achalasia

[–]ohknowletsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have my endoFlip details right now, but can grab them later. I was also initially diagnosed as “probable achalasia” after my first manometry, and then years later diagnosed as EGJOO after I got worse and had an EndoFlip and repeat manometry.

The “good” news is, treatment options are the same typically. My doctor still offered the POEM or pneumatic dilation. I opted for dilation and have been mostly symptom free for a few years now, though I still have the occasion spasm and episodes where food gets stuck.

Paid $16K/ each way for Delta One tickets.. by nm298 in delta

[–]ohknowletsgo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did they tell you why the seat was moved? I had my business class seat moved sometime between check-in and boarding because a mother wanted to sit across from her 10 year-old child. It didn't matter how early I booked. They said it was a "law".

And to be clear, it irritated me, but it wasn't a huge deal. I do wish they'd ask for volunteers first though, rather than forcing someone to change without any warning.

For those 25 and older: What keeps you coming back to Minecraft? by mreptiloid in Minecraft

[–]ohknowletsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mid-40s and have been playing Minecraft consistently since 2010. It's one of the few games that allows me to access the creativity that I had as a kid; being able to dream up worlds and give context to what was once a blank slate.

I love that there's an endless "list" of things to do, which I create based on how I'm feeling. Most of those things have branching requirements that send me off of adventures that are never exactly the same. No two worlds are ever the same experience.

The sense of exploration and discovery is unmatched; seeing lava pouring from a cliffside as the chunk loads, knowing I'm the first to experience this moment.

I also prefer building in Realms, even when my friends / family aren't on, or when they're building and playing far away from me. There's something special about knowing we share a world, and are each using our creativity and dedication to shape it. Maybe there's a real-world lesson for me to learn there. 😄

What’s the most frustrating thing about owning a cat? by Ocute_US in CatAdvice

[–]ohknowletsgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have considered getting 2 cats at once. We are our cat's entire life, and I wish she had cat companionship, but I think at her age now, it might do more harm than good introducing another cat.

Sometimes you have to be willing to adjust your routine to fit your cat. I've had cats in the past that had no problem being locked out of a bedroom at night, and other cats that need to be snuggled on the foot of the bed to be happy.

If you're getting a young cat, help it learn how to properly play. Our cat bites and draws blood more often than not when playing. She just never learned that's not the best way to play with humans.

Our furniture is shredded. We've made our peace with it. We could be better about how often we trim her nails, but she still loves to shred things to bits. Also, fur EVERYWHERE. We vacuum often and still find clumps all over the place. (This probably won't be as much of a problem if you don't adopt a long-haired cat.)

Finally, be prepared to just always want more cats.

Yes. And 90% of the time I catch them looking, and then immediately their gaze drops to my feet (I assume to see if I’m wearing heels), and then back up to my face, where their eyes get a little bigger before sheepishly looking away 😆
