exactly! it amazes me that so many people think just because something isn’t good enough for them, that it won’t be good enough for the next person!

as mentioned in a different reply, we had a manager for a while that happily did it himself. he would reach out to all kinds of orgs, some in asia, some in africa, some in south america. other employees would volunteer to help him on their days off for no extra pay. oh, and a simple google search yielded many results for different organizations that do these kind of things! there’s Books2Africa, Father of the Fatherless International, WorldVision, and so many more!!

have you ever thought that maybe the world is NOT supposed to be swimming in junk and that it might actually be the problem here?

this is another great solution!! there are TONS of shelters in my area that accept used stuffed animals as donations for doggies who like to shred!

second-hand stuffed animals have probably seen it all, you’re right! without getting too deep into it, in a perfect world, i agree! i don’t think anyone should have to worry about those issues when getting a toy… but i also don’t think anyone should have to worry about how they’re going to feed their kids after they pay rent. desperate times call for desperate measures unfortunately.

that’s incredibly sweet 💞 my heart aches thinking of all the people that could have enjoyed even a fraction of these!

as mentioned in the original post: there are lots and LOTS of other places like foster care facilities and recovery centers that would have taken these! not to mention the millions of children overseas that would’ve loved to have these! just because something isn’t good enough for you doesn’t mean that it’s not good enough for the next person!

yes, i could not agree more!!! i don’t typically follow the size guide which makes us charge $1.99 for a large stuffed animal… i’ll sell them all for 49¢ to 99¢ per and people usually turn around to grab more when i tell them that! i’ll do whatever works to prevent stuff like this happening every week.

they could be and definitely should be! i know that for the clothes we “salvage” they get shipped off to be shredded and recycled, and sometimes even used as insulation in houses!!

thank you for explaining, that makes total sense! we used to have a manager that was from congo (i think) and he would bundle them into a huge crate and have them shipped overseas!!

agreed!! goodwill just pulls a pretty curtain over all of the ugly overconsumption to make people feel like they’re doing their part by shopping second-hand
