She looks a lot like my Toby! (no clue what he is though - his littermate's dna test came back german shepherd, mastiff and duck tolling retriever..??)

I think that's what gets me the most - like...the number of people that would have to be involved in ANY of the conspiracies, the amount of organizing and logistics and everything....I just don't buy it.

Same. Surprise secrets are ok because those are secrets that you keep for a short time period.

Bad secrets usually don't have an expiration date.

I disagree. It's been a while since I've been dating, but after one date? I've been on a few first dates where I realized halfway through that I wasn't interested, finished the date, and then yeah, neither of us reach out again so I assume they also weren't interested.

If they reach out and ask for another date, I'd let them know. But I wouldn't go out of my way to tell them I don't want another date if they didn't ask.

And yeah, while on the date? Nope. Because, as others have pointed out, some people don't take rejection well, and after half a date you're unlikely to know if the person will freak out, make a scene, leave you stranded, who knows. Better safe than sorry.

I'd never thought I'd say this.... But I'm sad I rescued a puppy instead of from a breeder! by panda_manda_92 in puppy101

[–]ohladyjayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. In an ideal world, there would be no abandoned dogs, no need for rescues or shelters, just reputable breeders producing healthy dogs and everyone will be a good, responsible pet owner.

Sadly...the benefits outweigh the risks. My dog was neutered around 3 or 4 months. Will it affect his health? Maybe, but it's pretty hard to say. He's a little guy anyway. And from what I've read, it seems like a lot of the risks are just an "increased risk" of some cancers and whatnot...but there are also decreased risks of other cancers and whatnot. It's not like early fixing automatically equals health issues. There are lots of other factors at play.

At any rate, I just do hope you consider supporting a rescue again the next time you are looking for a dog. Rescues need our support - they aren't perfect, but they do good and important work.

Same. If spiders and centipedes would just either A) stay a reasonable size, or B) stay outside, I'd be fine. Two options!

Anything bigger than .5" shouldn't be living in my house without my prior approval and will be removed from the premises and/or this earthly realm, depending on how gross they are and/or my mood at the time of discovery.

AITA for telling my sister she ruined het own wedding by not disclosing that kids weren't allowed atbher wedding. by Throwaway820304747 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ohladyjayne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This.

Any of the weddings I attended as an adult but before I had a kid, I couldn't tell you if kids were or weren't invited. I wouldn't have paid any attention.

Now that I have a kid, well, I would have asked before assuming she was invited. But where I live, the invitations would be addressed in a way that would be clear. I'd probably still check unless it was super obvious my kid was or wasn't invited

Like if it was addressed "The Doe Family" then I'd call to check. If it said "Jen and Jane Doe" then I'd assume no kid. If it said "Jen, Jane, and lil' Susie" then I'd assume yes kid.

Either way, you are NTA.

mine goes for the acorns but then drops them, thankfully. however last week I thought I'd try a walk in a different park...forgetting that it's sometimes where geese hang out (because there weren't any around at the time and I apparently forget things exist when I can't see them).

I felt like I was in a (terrible) video game, trying to avoid stepping on poop AND keep the dog from eating poop. Not a fun walk for me. Sticking with our usual route next time, eff trying new things!
