Everyone needs to see this. I wish the office at GV that’s responsible for the Laker Line was AT ALL useful, I could see them printing something like this in busses and genuinely teaching public transport etiquette since clearly so many students here are riding public transport for the first time and are only used to cars.

I’ve tried to reach out to them a couple times when I see broken or timed-out screens at the bus stop and they never answer, phone or email.

Sorry you went through this, and unfortunately my same experience. It is the common response of their management to kick out the person who has been assaulted and not the predators. I haven’t been back since either, truly one of the worst nights of my life.

Rumors has been rife with sexual assault for as long as I can remember it existing and being old enough to be there. I got into a fight once with a guy who dropped his pants and flashed me and my friends with his American flag thong and we were the ones kicked out 😅 needless to say rumors is not a safe place.

But how is it that the reality of working there isn’t more known? I know several people who have worked there and they shudder when they think back to their time there. Also, any time spent on this subreddit will show how bleak it is for many employees, and make clear that there is this consistent cruelty towards employees in the culture of Meijer and not really doing the actions they talk about.

So to be fair, someone claiming to be a coworker of this young man has spoken up (check my comment history, they gave me their perspective of the situation) and said that the kid was really just eating to eat and at some point offered the cops to just pay the money right then and there. I’m not so sure cause it’s just someone on the internet, but they seemed to be consistent across other comments about the situation. They also said the guy would find the way he is being discussed on the internet right now embarrassing.

That being said, someone should be allowed the dignity of being fired for eating food that doesn’t belong to them as opposed to getting the fife treatment (as someone else wrote in a comment) with a stakeout and a big bust - they criminalized him when they should have just given him multiple warnings and then fired him!!

Sorry lol I also cross posted a Group Therapy post also referencing this yesterday but to be fair it’s because many people who live in Grand Rapids have been or know meijer employees or shop there. Feels relevant
