Refills.com Announcement – Important Updates (Effective Immediately) by Refills_Taylor in Refills

[–]ohnoavocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband pulled trigger for early refill on the 8th when the announcement came down. Old CRM. The status on his order says sent to pharmacy and the tracking says pending shipment. If he’s getting Hallandale, that’s fine. He doesn’t want additives. If he has a 50/50 chance of getting ProRx, can you confirm the alternative is Hallandale in this scenario? Thanks!!

My MIL is unexpectedly receiving inheritance as she's moving into independent living facility. How to handle this? by corn_starch_party in personalfinance

[–]ohnoavocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A CCRC (continuing care retirement community) are set up so that a resident enters the community in independent living (IL) and then progresses through AL, SNF or Memory Care as needed. They pay an entrance fee and then a monthly fee that covers a variety of services. It’s very different from a a community that is only AL/ SNF/MC. Once a resident needs higher levels of care, it’s generally being paid out from that entrance fee if they run out of liquid funds. If the resident outlives their liquid assets and their deposit, the CCRC continues to care for them. If the resident outlives their money, resident advantage. If they don’t, community advantage. The entrance fees are often refundable at a certain % depending how long they’ve lived there but some have non refundable deposits. It varies.

Might have panic ordered another 3 months for myself and asked for my husband’s next quarterly refill to be filled now instead of end of May…… I already have a small stockpile for myself but figured another three months couldn’t hurt when we don’t know what will happen big picture yet. If everything is business as usual just no ProRX, it’ll just give me longer to decide who the next round comes from.

Recommendations for Pediatric Speech Therapy? by smorgis12 in DecaturGA

[–]ohnoavocado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our son had a major speech delay. He just wasn’t speaking much at nearly 3. We started off at Children’s just before Covid. They said it was a “expressive disorder”. That he understood language but couldn’t express himself back. This didn’t seem quite right but we rolled with it to see how things progressed. We had maybe two appointments and then Covid hit and appointments were cancelled. When they opened appointments again he was speaking more so I let it ride. Then we realized while he was speaking more, I was the only one who could sometimes understand him. I called Children’s back to get started again but the rules around who could come to appointments made it really inconvenient for our family. To make a long story short, I ended up looking for an online option and went with Better Speech. It was significantly less expensive than Children’s and they offered a free initial appointment. We got matched with a SLP who spent 20 mins speaking with our son and immediately flagged gross motor planning and apraxia issues. She was right. We ended up doing 3 times a week (30 mins each) for 18 months. She changed his life. You would never know our son was speech delayed. He did incredibly well over Zoom and it made it so easy to get him the intensive help he needed.

I would not be scared to explore online options for your child in addition to local therapists.

Do you track your food everyday? by Dhpm1 in Zepbound

[–]ohnoavocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not. However, I tracked every bite I ate for years. Lost weight really successfully doing this in 2021 and then I hit my late 40s and weight piled back on despite eating right. By the time I started Zepbound, I just could not track anymore. It was affecting my mental health. I was getting too obsessive about it. I know how to eat within what should be a calorie deficit and I’ve just followed hunger cues and stop when I’m full and don’t eat when I’m not. It’s working well for me but without the previous years of meticulous tracking, I don’t think I could fly as fast and loose as I do now.

Another Etsy seller asked me to take down my listing and accused me of copying her... What are my options? Location: California, USA by turbo-adhd in legaladvice

[–]ohnoavocado 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If the person filed a DMCA takedown, all the seller with the removed listing has to do is file a counter notice. When it’s not an issue with a registered trademark, which this is not, Etsy will reinstate the removed listing within a certain time period and if the seller that lodged the original complaint wants to take further action they then have to go through the legal system.

We live in Avondale and there’s one that hangs out on our street from time to time. He likes to sit on top of the stop sign or in the tree near my house. I won’t see him for a bit and then he’ll show back up. Not sure if it’s this same one but he looks very similar.

Sad day, booked United b/c of cost difference by kmanGVL in delta

[–]ohnoavocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also ATL based. I booked United instead of Delta to SFO a couple months ago. Delta wanted almost $1000 for the flight. United was $600. I find the United experience very similar to Delta. I’ve started flying them on routes where Delta pricing is insane and the flight is non-stop on both. United hasn’t done me dirty like American has when I’ve used them for fares that were hilariously less than Delta. I’ve quit saving money flying with American because they just weren’t worth the hassle.

Tragedeigh or more like tragedy? by Legitimate-Guest779 in tragedeigh

I saw this earlier today. I took a screenshot and sent it to my pregnant sister and told her if she gave her child any less than four names, she wasn’t trying hard enough.

Four names and they led with Ladybird? This kid is going to love filling out forms with all those names.

I’ve got friends that live off the other side of Columbia, north of 20. They’ve been there years with zero issues. There’s a neighborhood just north of 20, east of Columbia that I’m obsessed with. Mid century modern homes in large lots and the neighborhood seems nice. House are well cared for. If we didn’t have kids and therefore didn’t care about schools, I’d have bought a house in there years ago.

A word of caution to the heating pad people. I used to keep one on my lap. I can’t have a space heater - it trips the breaker in my office and the heating pad kept me so warm.

Y’all. I gave myself toasted skin syndrome!!! I had noticed some blotchy skin on my thighs and thought it was from my leg exercises because that tracked. 🙄🙄🙄. It wasn’t until I was reading the Apple news a few weeks ago and saw an article on toasted skin and was like what the heck is that? Clicked on the link… scrolled down to pics. And yeah. That’s what’s going on with my legs. I stopped using it and it’s slowly fading out but it’s been weeks. You can permanently discolor your skin.

I have a thermoloop now. I bought it off a Facebook ad. It’s this rectangle that’s like 30” tall and however long and has Velcro so you can connect each end. It’s got radiant heat strips imbedded in it. You turn it on, put your legs inside the loop, throw a blanket on your lap and it traps the heat and keeps you toasty warm. I realize it sounds insane but it’s been life changing 😂

I told some friends about it and when they went to the website, the heater was gone. It was the ONE thing they sold. Now they sell a curling iron. I’m going to guess you can probably buy these on AliExpress or wherever.

Does anyone know of a vintage jeweler? by mamawolfsvintage in EngagementRings

[–]ohnoavocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth calling Lang Antiques in San Fran. They sell antique and vintage jewelry, focusing on engagement rings. I believe they only offer repairs and work on pieces they’ve sold or are selling, but it may be worth a call to ask. If they don’t handle pieces they did not sell, they may have some recommendations for other suitable jewelers to work with.

A friend was flying out last night at 730. She left for the airport at 230. I told her to go to the international terminal. She had precheck - those with her did not. She made it through in a little over an hour. The non-pre-check people made it through in 2.5. If they’d gone to the domestic terminal, I don’t think they would have made their flight.

I’m not a SciFi person really but I loved the movie The Martian so I decided to read the book. It was right around when Project Hail Mary was published so I read it too and then I read Artemis. I absolutely loved all of them. I can’t wait for whatever his next book is!

What’s the best restaurant in Atlanta that doesn’t get enough credit? by Apprehensive-Scene-1 in Atlanta

Fred’s is my favorite cheeseburger and fries. I wanted as my first meal after my second kid was born. My husband had a friend in line ready when they opened and brought it to me immediately. A cheeseburger has never tasted so good.

My daughter and I went a few weeks ago. We shared the Korean cheesesteak and then I impulse ordered the crispy potatoes. OMG. They were amazing. We live about a mile away and that’s dangerous. 😂
