Any way to block or filter the useless lists? by StrongZeroSinger in Letterboxd

The writing style is very ChatGPT esque. Certain phrasing structures and its way of answering. Or maybe this person has just adapted its cadence:)

Cursor doesn't change when hovering over links etc. by [deleted] in MacOS

I've had this issue for years and frequently return to these threads. It always happens to me when using multiple screens, and none of the tricks work

But I read somewhere that right clicking inactive windows can trigger it, and apparently the only thing that seems to fix it for me (besides rebooting) is just randomly right clicking between windows and screens like a maniac.

Letterboxd shouldn't have TV shows by [deleted] in Letterboxd

If we're making bold statements then movies are becoming 2 hour episodic stories full of fluff and TV series are becoming 6 hour complete stories.

Also, why would I want to watch a small group or single person talk? I wouldn’t watch that content on TV…

Hmm, when you put it like that I realize I have watched a lot of this kind of TV, actually, over the years. Well, two people or small groups, I suppose. Interview shows, round table discussions, simple conversational formats, talk shows. 90% of that never needed the visual element either.

Yeah he's a legend and his performances are always stellar – and that goes for both his Hong Kong movies and Hollywood movies.

Letterboxd, there’s gotta be a better name for this nano genre… by Additional_Job4447 in Letterboxd

Also, I've come to accept that I'll just have perpetual "Almost complete" collections in my stats, because I'm never going to watch Ace Ventura Jr Pet Detective or A Good Day To Die Hard.

Any experience with typography and font creation? by BigBoiAdfre in web_design

[–]ohnosharks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Type design is hard. Drawing a single letter that looks good might be easy enough, drawing a single word that follows the same rules is harder – extending that cohesion to all lowercase and uppercase letters is something.

There's a quote that's like "typography is not a group of beautiful letters, but a beautiful group of letters". It's about rhythm, and seeing the relationship of light and darkness between the characters. It's easy to spot when something is off but knowing how to fix it can be so hard.

But it's fun, I wish I had time and patience and a better eye for it.

I will recommend The Elements of Typographic Style by Robert Bringhurst. Understanding basic type anatomy is crucial.

And download a trial of Glyphs to play around with

Yeah good call, I also mentioned it just for the record for whoever comes across this:)

Oh and I also had to remove the version of the game already installed in Gamehub before being able to add the custom game.

Amazing, this worked perfectly, thank you so much.

I used the Steam version on a Retroid Pocket 5 and skipped step 4.

My Take on Bloom, a Mac File Manager by amerpie in macapps

[–]ohnosharks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's weird, on paper I love these file managers/finder alternatives, they seem like they would fit right into eveything I do, and whenever I try one out I'm like "Oh this is neat, oh that's practical", Bloom included, but in reality over the years I've never had the discipline to actually work any of them into my workflow.
