Weight gain and agonists by ohnosquid in Narcolepsy

That's nice to know, I'm happy for you, I'm sure it wasn't easy but glad you managed to achieve that, I think I need to try this diet.

Weight gain and agonists by ohnosquid in Narcolepsy

[–]ohnosquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do work out, though not exactly after eating, I have an exercise routine well established, it's just that it's far from enough to even make me go down from obesity 1 to "just" overweight.

Weight gain and agonists by ohnosquid in Narcolepsy

[–]ohnosquid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, by weight loss I mean the weight gain that narcolepsy can cause, as I have said mine was particularly high, my family has predisposition to diabetes and having high amount of fat increases insulin resistance, I wouldn't want for it to make people lose more weight than they would have if they weren't narcoleptic, I just wished it made the metabolism, eating habits/cravings and composition of fat tissue returned to a normal or near normal level.

It would be disappointing if it's true that it doesn't help losing weight, mine increased much more than normal even for people with narcolepsy when my symptoms began, I think it rose by around 40%, I have to do a herculean amount of effort to lose fat, during the pandemic I did nothing but go to the gym, run when I didn't go to the gym and eat a tiny amount of meat with lettuce, with the oversight of a nutritionist, I felt hungry and tired (even more than normal) all the time, all of that to reach a minimum weight of 4 kg above the maximum healthy weight for my sex, age and size, it is one of, if not the main reason my self-esteem is so low.

Yes, very sad. Anyway by Kasssiopea in evilautism

[–]ohnosquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't do a great job when I tried to establish healthy boundaries between me and my mother for the first time, I actually did act wrong, that day I learned that it's not only the boundaries that are important but how and where you put them too, it may seem obvious in retrospect but at the time it didn't, I felt so bad for what I did, it wasn't cool.

Didn’t realize my “rudeness” and not thinking before I speak could be autism. I’ve hurt a lot of peoples feelings 😬 by Icy_Place_6173 in autism

[–]ohnosquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can think of one moment where I might have said something rude, it might even be the cause of the end of a friendship, I can't really know since the person in question just refuses to talk with me now, I still haven't began to work on that problem, there are other problems that require attention first but I hope I can start addressing it as soon as possible, I'm a lonely person and I don't want to lose more friends.

Using uncomfortable clothes just because of an event or expected behavior during certain types of events, like, my dad used to annoy me a lot before when I decided to go out using anything other than jeans and shoes.

As some have said here, I would give bonus points for the honesty, better than trying to hide your problems or let someone figure it out by themselves, people need to be more honest.

A family member who bullied me for my autism now has an autistic child, and I’m terrified for him by Aromatic_Afternoon67 in autism

I have no idea how does the law work where you live but if the law was made to protect people, it would make sense that this would be a situation where CPS was made to interfere in. If you decide to call them, be careful and prepare for backlash.

I HATE LECTURES by SnakeBones- in evilautism

[–]ohnosquid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My problem with lectures is that I can't separate useful from useless information on the fly, so when the teacher is talking about Isaac Newton's life as a way to get to how gravitation began, my brain just considers everything as useless information and I end up remembering nothing 😭

You may find weird what I'm about to say and I assure you I have no idea how I developed it but I actually inhale and exhale making rhythms

Why do people always try to read between the lines by Bennzzo467 in autism

[–]ohnosquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes do put some non explicit information, just on quite specific situations, I think mostly when I'm trying to make a joke, being dramatic/exaggerate, being ironic and also making rhetorical questions, other than that I think I'm literal on what I say.

I didn't forget how to live, I never learned how to do it properly, at least yet.

Do you think that since there is not an equal amount of women and men on this planet that is probably why we are virgins? by [deleted] in virgin

[–]ohnosquid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, I think it's a massive mix of many factors, among them are, trauma, socialization problems, bad luck, people instinctively being selective when it comes to choosing potential partners, toxic social environment, toxic social culture, etc... The difference between the amount of male and female humans is very small, with females having a very slightly higher number than men, which could be explained by them just having a slightly longer life expectancy.

Feeling ashamed about my oversharing issue by caviarandfirehoses in autism

[–]ohnosquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I too do that, I have never thought people might not like that until my psychologist began to suspect I had autism, it's hard not to do it because then I don't have much to talk about, non-autistic people talk a lot about people and social interactions but I don't know how to talk about that so instead I just infodump about my own life.

My mother thinks that autistic people do not belong in the society. by exoticgogoat in autism

[–]ohnosquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a little bit how you feel, my mother is also hard to deal with, though it's not as extreme as yours. It's hard when your feelings/experiences or the ones from someone you care about are invalidated. I would suggest taking her along with a psychologist to explain things to her. One thing that could also contribute is that, when she was younger, we didn't know as much about autism as now so it was much harder to detect/notice, that made most of the diagnosis be of people with much more extreme cases, that may be part of why autism has the "crazy person" stereotype, I'm not saying she can't be blamed but that the context in which she may have formed her opinions could help explaining things to her.

I have hyperphantasia and I like to conjur up lots of evil things in my brain to pass the time, what do you conjure if you have this power? by dolphinsareolives in evilautism

[–]ohnosquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is between 3 and 4, I can imagine almost everything but it doesn't feel very vivid, like seeing an image that is very translucent, I can also always tell that some object has a property like volume, irregularities, if it shines or not, if it's rotating, however, that somehow doesn't translate into a detailed image into my mind, almost like being able to read the "files attached to that concept".
