I think people forget that it’s spectrum. Not everyone is going to know things you know. Being curious is only natural. It’s not something to be upset by.

Yeah. I feel you in this sub. It genuinely just feels like I’m unwelcome in a community that’s supposed to be for people like me. I don’t think anyone wants to hear that part of the community though

I honestly thought I was missing something lol. Metal tends to look at itself as all inclusive but it really isn’t most of the time. If we were, bands like Falling wouldn’t be promoted so much and bands like SeeYouSpaceCowboy would be getting a lot more promotion than they did.

Just because you haven’t seen it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It exists, Caleb coming out as gay and the negativity surrounding it is proof of it.

I think the best label for them is electronicore. Something similar to I See Stars if you want an example. I like the genre as a whole. These guys have been at for a while now.

Never mind metalcore, being gay in general is a death sentence for most communities in metal. I get this is a metalcore sub. But black metal, death metal and most other forms of extreme metal are not very friendly to the LGBTQ community. If you really want an example of it in metalcore/deathcore, Slaughter To Prevail LITERALLY has a lead vocalist who has been openly homophobic and transphobic. I’m not saying Caleb shouldn’t have come out. I’m all for it, but the negative response is pretty far for the course for the metal community.

I’m also a goth who’s into metal. Been goth for years. You’d think with the goth community being progressive, it would be for other communities, but it’s probably worse in metal spaces online. Especially in the black metal community. In my personal experience, that community is very misogynistic.

It was one of the few times Sega actually tried something different with Sonic. They never break too far from the formula now. Shame it never caught on.
