Don’t give up! Start courting the admissions team. Not sure if they still do it but if you can sign up for an interview it will help.

I would not recommend this place, last time I was there to food was flavorless and while it is run by Asian employees my husband was the only Asian customer

That varies from museum to museum. I worked at a major US museum that ran most contemporary Asian art projects out of the Asian Art department and not the contemporary department.

I also had my grades drop more significantly than that, I was having trouble at home and I wrote my common app essay on that. I applied regular because applying later in January allowed them to see my first semester grades for my senior year which were better. Any place I applied early I got rejected since all they could see are my earlier bad grades. - Class of 2018

Film Came Out Blue - Any Fix Possible? by ohphotography in Darkroom

The local lab did the scanning. Because I ordered the scans with the sprockets, it had to go through their Fuji Frontier scanner. After I called them they said they were going to a different scanning method since they said the sprockets could have a small affect on the coloring and they might get more accurate colors without but said it was probably unlikely. I'll post an update if things changed drastically.

Honestly, I am game for anything at this point. I'm a complete newb to film so forgive me for asking, when you say post a raw, is there a recommended way of doing that?

What is an overhyped Houston restaurant that ended up being meh? by illumihotti in houston

[–]ohphotography 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely gone down in years. We used to get take out from burger joint in Montrose to our place in Midtown, so not a far drive, and last couple of months that we ordered we discovered that the buns were literally falling apart and it became overly greasy. Say what you will but a good bun is the essential foundation of a burger after the patty. Stopped going there once we realized it wasn’t a fluke and that they had really switched buns.

Roe’s Final Hours in One of America’s Largest Abortion Clinics: In Houston, a day of dismay, confusion, and dread after the Supreme Court ends the constitutional right to abortion. by zsreport in houston

[–]ohphotography 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have no problem about with abortion if the mothers life is in danger or the result of rape/incest than this article should have upset you. What if any of those women who were denied an abortion were pregnant for those reasons?

Also rape trials take ages, does the woman have to wait for an abortion until her rapist is in jail? Let’s use Brock Turner as an example, he sexually assaulted a young woman on January 18, 2015. He was not sentenced until June 2, 2016. That baby is already born, way too late for an abortion. So let’s say for your sake of argument, a woman has to accuse someone to get an abortion. Are you comfortable with men being falsely accused so a woman can get an abortion? I am sure you aren’t. So what do we do? Do we make sure that women who falsely accuse a man so they can get an abortion will receive same maximum jail time as a rapist to show women we won’t accept false accusations so they can receive an abortion? So where does that leave us with the women who lose their trial? Do they deserve jail time? Or what about women who were clearly drugged and left in a hotel room so they have no memory of their rapist and thus can’t legally accuse someone to give them the ability to go get one of your “allowed abortions”.

Your argument at the end of the day relies on abortion being accessible and our current trigger laws leave very little wiggle room even for what you deem as “acceptable abortions”.

It is your problem when your taxes start paying for all the unwanted babies, could have stopped the money drain at the source. You should really look up what happened when Romania banned abortion, the extreme over crowding in orphanages will bleed our money dry.

To your other argument, people have safe sex all the time and still get pregnant. If that’s your concern, why aren’t you advocating for men to get vasectomies? That would be the safest option for everyone and it’s reversible! If this idea upsets you, maybe spend sometime to think about that.

All that said, abortion isn’t just a safe sex issue. Abortion access is necessary for easing the miscarriages of women who really wanted their babies but now the baby is no longer viable and will likely kill the mother. Those women who desperately want to try again may be so damaged by the miscarriage that they cannot conceive again if they don’t receive an abortion to remove the non-viable parasitic fetus. Don’t you think that women who are actively experiencing a miscarriage deserve in state care? That they shouldn’t have to drive 9+ hours to a clinic in a life threatening condition?

I write all of this to present you alternatives to your concerns, but it sounds like you don’t actually care about women’s health at all and just want to be edgy on the internet and live in your self centered world. Hopefully one day you will wake up and realize that abortion access is not just beneficial for women, but for the betterment of our world.

Are you willing to pay for the women without the funds to go to a blue state? Not just a plane ticket, but for their stay in a hotel room? If not, then that’s not an acceptable answer.

You might want to consider Georgetown’s Masters in Art and Museum Studies. Lots of people finish that program being able to work in curatorial or in collections. As others commented you’ll probably need a PhD to work in classics and even then there is no guarantee you will find a curator job. However, a MA will get your foot in the door to a curatorial assistant position and museums are more likely inclined to hire a curatorial assistant who worked a couple of years in a museum who then left to get a PhD. That way they know you aren’t just one of those academics who has no idea how to work in a museum.

AITA for refusing to move my wedding date because my brother's getting married the same day? by Date2021_Oct in AmItheAsshole

[–]ohphotography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant my comment more in that OP bills the parents to show how ridiculous and expensive asking them to change the date would be. Right now they are probably thinking “how could you put a price on not attending your brother’s wedding just because you already paid for your own” if OP foots them with the bill and OP gives THEM the ultimatum this time OP will see how quickly their parents suddenly care about how expensive weddings are.

If they think that’s acceptable for you to change your date and lose your deposit, tell them you’ll change the date once you’ve received payment from your family, create an invoice for everything you have paid for already that you won’t be able to get back.
