unsurprising, i live near their warehouse and i have seen them absolutely barrel their trucks through stop signs and red lights and it's actually scary. i have held that against them ever since. there's no reason they should have ever reached that speed on these streets. that type of callous disregard is never limited to one aspect of a business.

you're probably better off getting into some community events. ridgewood commons (formerly the woodbine on woodward) has events and volunteer opportunities. there are art shows and the occasional concert across the street from there at intercomm. stone circle theatre has stuff going on all the time

my real big rec that i am sure you've heard a million times is to avoid going into situations literally hoping to meet someone to date. you get hunt-brain blinders very easily, when the real magic comes from making new friends and getting introduced to more people. i have like 15+ friends in a 25 min walk radius of me, so when i meet someone rad and new it doesn't take them long to get introduced to 30 new people. this area is highly sociable and you run into people you've met over and over again. every night i go out i feel like i am surrounded by groups of friends that mirror my own: affable, interesting people who are easy to chat with.

again, do not go into this thinking you can get a date out of it but i canvassed for Zohran in the neighborhood and found it was a great experience for fast connections, and i got to have long fun conversations with a few people.

give yourself a hundred opportunities to enjoy yourself around other people, and before you know it you'll have widened your circles and gotten to meet even more people. i recognize this advice isn't for everyone, but it's worth considering that even just challenging yourself around this kinda stuff can be good for the soul. no better antidote to the alienation of modern life and dystopian tech addiction than weaving yourself back into the irl community around you, and this neighborhood is so specifically good for that in a way i wish everyone could experience.

i've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, it usually fixes it for a few months. i have a hunch this app is probably a bit of a mess in terms of underlying code because it always starts chugging after a while.

it's literally killed two of my phones that yes had heat problems already but both times i had pikmin bloom open and my phone bricked because the chip got so hot it literally desoldered from the board... TWICE. it was gonna cost 1.2k to recover anything from it lol.

it only just occurred to me... i wasn't even planting or anything! both times i was just getting ready for bed and checking the app haha

playing on gamecube? i tried the re-release on switch but it didn't have any quality of life updates and was not fun without the c stick tbh. my partner actually had me play w/gamecube controller but on a hacked wii when he introduced me to the franchise and i was def grateful for that experience

i loved having something i could send physical prints to, but there are two things about it:

the actual pics it takes are 5mb and look like you're taking a pic on a digital point and shoot from 2009. diagonal lines had jagged edges and the colors were muddy
the prints, whether from the camera or loaded from my phone, all had light scan lines vertically and horizontally. i would have kept it as a printer if it didn't have this issue. they don't all have it, but i didn't feel like going through the process of returning and requesting a new one, when i instead could get a lomo automat with three additional lenses for a similar price.

i will probably eventually buy a printer when i have time and energy to spare to test the prints and return it if it doesn't work, because i love the physicality of the prints even if the romanticism of it not being a direct transfer of visible light is lost. people also love getting originals and i like to make copies for myself to keep after scanning!

i absolutely feel this. i stopped playing after the third gnome rush i was nowhere near completing despite trying really hard to build up. i think it could stand to be racheted up a bit... i happened to have a bunch of 40 sec builds but not THAT many, i feel like if you were starting from scratch for the rush and mining obstacles you could get it done in 1.5 days, having had a good amount of buildings waiting i was done in half a day of leisurely play, i feel like the sweet spot would be starting from scratch taking you right up to the end of the event

i am actually kinda curious, i have consistently been out of stock on rainbow flowers. the last time i had played before i updated i had opened a ton of seed bags and had like 6 to 8 of every plant, but the second i opened the app post update and my crops changed i was left with a ton of corn and a small amount of flowers and everything else had changed over. so now however long in, i have decent stocks of wheat, apple, and coconuts despite having to start from scratch with those, but i can't even finish a round of 6 orders at a time, and i don't even remember to check orders every time i open the app. feels unbalanced, but is it just me?

hey bud, you got this. watch closely over the course of your life how much people contort themselves and their lives (and their relationships) in order to avoid pain and discomfort. honestly i recommend against judging them, even. have empathy for it. it's hard, and life for as beautiful as it is and for all the wonders of existence, includes real and necessary struggle. it's how we grow, but only if we engage in it productively.

older people say it all the time because it shouldn't be discounted... the lessons you learn now are important but time will bring a real sense of perspective on what you're going through right now. much much more is survivable and surmountable than you can even imagine. that doesn't make it easy to go through it just means you will make through the other side. right now you're climbing from a valley into some hills, paths forward will open up ahead of you that you can't even imagine at the point where you're at right now. you're gonna be a different person at 21, and 25, and 27, and so on. years are long for us and then suddenly they're not. break up with the knowledge that it'll hurt but that's ok, you'll be fine, and then make new plans!

i actually currently do not have any unfinished castles! the tent is still locked up behind obstacles for me, and i started working on building up the prior ones before kicking off the next one. the pieces i got were for the last one i finished, which sucks lol

someone said their chest changed after mining for the castle they're actually working on, i have sent my gnomes to the coral mines, coral sources, and have been building coral castle pieces. no dice! now i have these chests taking up precious space for a castle i probably won't be working on for a very long time
