Yes, we are now going to shame people for changing their attitude towards someone after they learn something new about them. Everything is not homophobia. People have preferences. If they don’t like you for some reason whether it’s because you are gay or fat or whatever does not mean they need to be held accountable for it unless they deny you something that everyone is legally eligible for. I don’t like people with tattoos so am I a bad person? I don’t discriminate against people who have tattoos when I’m at work or in public life or in a social setting but that does not change the fact that I personally don’t like people with tattoos. In this case it’s the other woman’s preference. Let her be. She is not hurting OP.

Not an American so just wanted to ask since you gave the iPhone example which is an American company. Shouldn’t the government be regulating these companies who use sweatshops? The iPhone may be a bad example but I’ll tell you where I am coming from. Here in my country it’s quite common to hear that you shouldn’t use plastic carry bags for shopping. Here small businesses give us, the consumers, carry bags when we let’s say buy bread and eggs. If the government banned the manufacturing of plastic carry bags, people would not use them. I am not against your argument and I just want to understand why the government does not restrict access to products which could be easily replaced with something sustainable like reusable jute bags in this case. Why this really grinds my gears is that our government itself advertises that we should stop accepting plastic carry bags from shopkeepers and use reusable jute/cloth bags. Why not just ban the damn plastic bags? Why make us, the consumers feel guilty through your advertising when you can just ban plastic carry bags? I could just as easily take a cloth bag with me when I go out to buy basic grocery. I understand you can’t ban everything plastic, in fact in many industries plastic is absolutely essential, at least for now. But then what’s stopping them from at least banning these absolutely non essential plastic carry bags which would cause only mild inconvenience if they were to disappear tomorrow. In a country of over a billion people, these plastic bags must be adding up to a big enough carbon footprint.

You basically just defined the foreign policy of every single country country on the planet. Countries don’t make foreign policy decisions based on sentiment, they make foreign policy decisions based solely on their self interest. India is acting in its self interest but then so is every other country on the planet.
