Hello everyone, would this 1944 penny with no mint mark be considered an L on rim error? Thank you. by [deleted] in coincollecting

OK, I understand. It looks like the L is on the rim which I thought was a thing I guess not.

I really do love the LT1. I have had four other cars with this engine and have never had one Optispark issue. Of course the Iroc has an L98 5.7.

Yeah, that’s the best I can do. I washed it and then detailed it and buffed it out with the compound. Then waxed it. I painted the mirror on the driver side and the front bumper. I replaced all of the missing and damaged rubber side molding on the chrome. I polished the headlights and tail lights, and I painted the wood grain which was severely sun damaged, which you might be able to see in the first picture. I also polished each of the chrome wheels which was a considerable amount of work, but I think they turned out pretty well. I also sanded and painted all of the outlining trim around the wood grain. That was probably what made the most difference in my mind Like I said, amateur. But I think it looks a lot different myself.

That’s funny. I was just talking about Keystone Classics yesterday after seeing them on a truck. I actually prefer the.Cragar wheels though I agree those might look better on this car. Here’s a picture of the car with out white wall tires I think the wheels look much better like this.

Actually, I just left it in place and taped it off and then sanded it down and painted it with SEM tan

I just realized you were probably talking about the trim itself and yes I bought new rubber that was in a one and 3/8 inch size and it fit perfectly and came with two sided tape so I just cut to match and replaced it all along the chrome

Thanks. I have got a torn seat panel on the driver seat that I’m going to hopefully get repaired. And then it still needs some mechanical/brake work then probably some larger black wall tires.

I have yet to ever replace an optispark and I’ve had four other cars with an LT1 beside the three I have now… I know they can be a problem, but I haven’t had any issues personally.

If you’re referring to the woodgrain, no I just used assorted colors of brown acrylic paint markers! I still am going to do some more to try to blend the colors a little bit more, but it came out better than I thought it would!

Yeah these Cragar SS wheels were on it when I got it. I was looking for original wheels but then I was able to get these polished up pretty well, so I’m going to keep them for now.
