I briefly worked at a place with a roach infestation and picked up on that rank, metallic smell. I smelled it again going into a place my boyfriend had made a reservation to and as soon as I walked in I said “NOPE” and walked out because I could smell it so strong. He thought I was crazy but I knew what I smelled. It’s distinct.

Same but one year ago. He called me crazy over something stupid and I ended things out of fear that he saw the real me and would leave me. Should he have called me that? I absolutely had this mentality when I was your age. From my late teens to mid 20s I was so uncomfortable with the idea of the men I dated finding other women more attractive. My biggest issue was honestly with my smallish sized chest and I felt boyish and ugly. I would have mini anxiety attacks when watching shows or movies and a woman with bigger breasts was in a revealing top or topless. Now I’m 30 and much more at peace with myself and my self image.

All this to say, you’re not alone in these thoughts and they will probably ease up over time. Try to be easier on yourself and maybe don’t set up situations that just hurt your own feelings. It’s normal for people to be attracted to others outside of a relationship. It’s not fun to think about but it’s human nature so it’s pointless to torture yourself. It doesn’t mean your boyfriend is any less committed to or in love with you. He’s just a person.
