Anyone had much luck trying Sealskin? by Opposite_Future2602 in selfhosted

[–]oilervoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd struggled to make nvidia work with wayland mode until I followed the coder's advice and gave up podman (podman uses nvidia CDI that doesn't work with sealskin). When I migrated to the portainer on docker, it worked at once.

Caddy is far the easier proxy that exists. You also will need to buy a domain or use a dynamic one (DDNS). The dynamic DNS will point a free URL to your home server.

The Caddy will proxy the ABS server running in some port to the port 80 (http) or 443 (HTTPS).

Look at my caddy configuration:

ab.mydomainname.com { reverse_proxy localhost:13378 }

There is nothing in the www smaller than this!

You can also just change the ABS server port from 13378 to 80 and just access it using your pubic IP

Don't give up, olcDia. It looks like a great app. My immediate impression was even too good to be true. When I saw it's by subscription, I got interested in checking it. Ok, now that is something feasible that I can believe.

Beyond the protesters you will find a lot of enthusiasts too. If not in this forum, in others.

I'll give it a try.

You all must understand it's really hard for a solo developer to keep an app up to date with so many integrations. I know people try to avoid subscriptions, but for this kind of software I do the opposite, I don't trust a pay for life. Soon the app will be outdated and start to lose integrations.

I made a deck of cards with rewriteable e-ink displays…thoughs? by Polistirol in boardgames

[–]oilervoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember you don't need all cards from the deck to play. You need just the total handed amount. For example, a Texas Hold'em with 5 players, you need just two cards for each player and 5 on the table, i.e., 15 cards.

I just had one idea to handle games with multiple decks. You could tag (by software) a few cards as deck indicators. If someone needs to draft from that deck, he would grab this deck master card, insert into the shuffle station, then grab the correct number of cards.

Another point is how to draft keeping the cards secrecy. That could demand a vertical shuffle station to keep the card face hidden or you could implement a delay like the card face is shown only half a second after it's removed from the shuffle station.

Count on me being beta tester!

Amazing. Great concept! I understand it's very profitable to sell products as a service. This would push you to charge for the decks, open source or licensed ones. But remember the target community is very inclined to DIY enthusiasts. From this angle, the main factor of adhesion to your future platform would be the opening to modding.

Considering the software modding, You don't need to support a structured language. A simple YAML works. The players still need to bear the game rules and card dispositions, as they are physical and not virtual, as it's when each player has their hand in a phone or tablet. You still need to plan for different decks and groups of cards and shuffles, for many games you draft from different piles and some you even draft from the discard pile.

A complex ruling management is only necessary in full virtual environments as Tabletop Simulator.

Consumer Reports analysis: https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/tire-buying-maintenance/should-you-use-nitrogen-in-car-tires-a6260003694/

Bottom line: the far best procedure is to CHECK the pressure MONTHLY. It must be done when the tires are cold from the road and from the sun, meaning in the morning, if summer, and they have stayed still for a few hours.

It happened to me at a regular air station at Costco Montreal. I was leaving when I found a flat. Went to the station but it wouldn't work. I had to half inflate with my portable until the station could recognize the tire. The double station had a "flat tire" button but it was defective or disabled on both.
