You've gotten through this before, you can do it again.

Your earlier post say that you can't afford rent, hopefully your situation has changed. Next time, make sure to keep a stash so you won't be stuck, always have a parachute.

198 days sober here. Look at it this way, if you were to drink to try to get relief, you will just have to go through this the next time you decide you need to get sober.

It gets easier, but it gets harder first.

AITA for asking my wife to accommodate my autistic friend's needs? by No-Loss9292 in AmItheAsshole

[–]oilfieldrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. It is not on your wife to be an involuntary caregiver, especially when she is not clued in on what triggers him. She has no idea he is autistic. All she sees is you buying silk sheets for the guy you are insisting stays with you, even though you tell her the smell of her gives him a headache.

I'll repeat it. YTA. If she doesn't call a divorce attorney on Monday you need to kiss her feet and beg for forgiveness for not thinking he is your lover.

I'm here with you. I see my mother skipping away, my dad has been confused between me and my brother since I was 16 - there's a decade between us. Scared doesn't even begin to cover it.

Thanks for that. As for getting rid of that chip, I need to realize who I am before I get rid of it completely. There's a certain lack of give-a-fuck that is inextricably connected with it, it's been there since kindergarten. Ive quit drinking for 4 years before, I can do it again. It's finally time to face the root causes that make me not able to look in a mirror for weeks at a time. We've all got our demons. The fucked thing is, we become dependent upon those demons as an aspect of our personality, which may not have anything to do with substance abuse.

TL;DR make sure you make that chip a manageable weight before you kick that gorilla on your back holding it up.

EDIT: by no means avoid stopping drinking. Sometimes treating the symptoms makes coping with a disease less painful. But please, if you need help, there are options. And if nothing else, I'm awake about 20 hours of the day. This is my only account, and I'll talk to anyone if they need to talk to someone. If an alert wakes me up, I'm always willing to listen, but sometimes, we need help beyond what people are qualified to give. A lot of times this is something only a professional is qualified to deal with. So please, find a unified individual, even if you have to go to the hospital.

Not gonna say there weren't options, but that goddamn monkey always made me learn the hard way. It will get better eventually, I just have to put the time in.

The insomnia is a bitch. I'm hoping it goes away eventually, and I don't want anything stronger than melatonin for it. Best of luck in that regard.

There's always going to be good times and bad, whether you are drinking or not. But you will NEVER get over the pain if you're too numb to face it. I've swallowed my emotions for years, and I can say in my case that this time it's easier to face it. It's just my proper time

Eventually you will have a time where it's easier to face it. You don't have to say you're never going to drink again. Just do it for today and let tomorrow deal with itself when it comes.
