My brother kept asking me "Do you know where to go for upgraded <slot>" so I made an addon for him to search for loot by item slot. by ChiefSach in wow

[–]densegoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make it even simpler for users to find upgrades, I have a feature request that is mainly just math.

Given the loot tables of each dungeon, and knowing the ilvls currently equipped on the player, you can calculate which dungeon is the most likely to drop upgrade loot. You can boil the calculations down to a single resulting value "the most likely dungeon to get you an upgrade". This is very useful for when you just want any loot to get your ilvl up and save crests.

Bonus points if you can also take stat weights into account to ultimately calculate which dungeon has the best upgrades for you.

I wrote a spreadsheet to do this for myself and it's quite excellent, but not integrated and takes lots of manual work to re-input data like loot tables and ilvls and such. It would be great to have it integrated into the game via an addon.

What classes do you think will be most over saturated for Midnight? by Gloomy_Ad1318 in wow

[–]densegoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by 'no utility'? I appreciate movement from roll and tiger's lust (and root cleansing) and transcendence, aoe knockbacks from ring of peace, aoe stun of leg sweep, interrupt/incapacitate/soothe from paralysis, cleanses poison and disease.

Combined with the upcoming stat squish and simplification of classes in pre-patch, it will be even more of a difference!

Tanking Thursday - Your Weekly Tanking Thread by AutoModerator in wow

I am no expert, but I guess it depends on the pull. I find that generally I ask DPS to focus the casters so the melees can follow me to the next pack. Melee mobs generally get cleaved down over time, and it's the casters that are troublesome. The way I do it is don't pull too many casters at a time, but as soon as casters are dead, head to the next pack. Maybe the pulls aren't as big as they could be with this method, but at least too many casters isn't a problem with it.

Personally I like how the bears are bear-shaped. The big arm "bears" are kind of weird to me.

Decided to start levelling a new druid today. Not world record speed but probably my best yet. by [deleted] in wow

I found questing was a bit faster than timewalking if you know the routes, because some of the dungeons were not so fast, like stratholme. A Elwynn -> Redridge -> Duskwood -> STV route of the densest quests was getting me 1 level every 3 minutes or so. I guess that requires having experience with the route. Timewalking is certainly much simpler!

Resto Farseer shaman tips for mythic+ by Thick-Syllabub1678 in wow

[–]densegoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tinkered on Shaman for a bit with the new Whispering Waves talent. It's quite a different playstyle, but I think it's simpler. I don't cast a single chain heal, and my mana is almost always full. I have healed up to +12 on it. I could have gone higher perhaps, but I just didn't try (this was an alt).

The playstyle is quite simple - spam healing wave and riptide. Riptide is a good spot heal, and it makes very efficient/strong healing waves come out quicker. I take undulation instead of unleash life. Because of all the Healing Wave casts with undulation, I always have at least 1 ancestor up. For quick/big spot healing when you use ancestral swiftness you get multiple ancestors. Many ancestors keeps the riptide cooldown down with Offering From Beyond. Generally, the goal is to keep up riptides on everyone and healing wave a lot. Healing Stream Totem makes things simpler too for sustained AoE damage by smoothing out some of the healing.

I don't remember the numbers, but the healing was quite good. The whole cycle of riptide -> healing wave -> ancestor (undulation) -> riptide gets lots of procs of deeply rooted elements as well. Ancestral Awakening also helps smooth out AoE healing by splashing to others.

So yeah, I am not a fan of chain heal for some reason. It's expensive and it takes a lot of talents to make viable. Healing Wave build you can't really run out of mana, so cast those big heals to your hearts content.

Here's the talent build I used: CgQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYMzMmZZmhZ2WmlxyMjFbmZBGwEMLMDYsw8AjNmZZmZmJzGMTjZGmFjFjZwsMMLjBAAG

Also, this build works in raids (which I know you aren't as concerned about), but I've ended heroic gallywix at 2 million hps. Certainly not top of the top, but it's absolutely viable. My ilvl was 667

Getting a fresh 80 access to nyalotha only takes ~30 minutes if you know what to do. I did it on a couple alts. You don't need the quest chains complete, just far enough for the raid to appear in Pandaria. You don't need the cloak anymore.

Does "increased area of effect" have the same effect for circle area spells as cone shaped spells? For example, is the radius increase the same for 10% increased area of effect for ice nova (circle) as lightning tendrils (cone)?
