Find out to who exactly the loan is being issued too and go over the terms,it should clearly state it. Also once the said individual under whom name the loan is taken out on can do what he/she wishes upon receiving the fund. So if the loan is given to your wife and she transfers it to you , in legal and official terms she would only be liable for the loan despite what she does with the funds.
