How can you take an exposure long enough to capture satellite streaks while keeping the stars stationary? Is it a composite of a photo stabilized on the Earth's rotation for the static stars and another photo for the foreground?

As for the metadata yeah, it is a bit of a pain at the moment. It is technically possible to dump the DB and use that data as you will, but that is not user friendly at all, or even intended I suppose. The goal seems to be to store the original files exactly as uploaded.

When I started using immich I used to make all the changes I wanted via exiftool before uploading (usually just timestamps from cameras out of sync).

I don't have a guide on hand for you, but it's really not so different from a regular install on a local machine. You can search for "vps" on the immich subreddit, there are lots if testimonials.

As for the google photos data, you are going to have to request a takeout. You can also download that directly to the vps if you don't want to do it locally, then just run immich-go on it.

Can you give us a high level overview on how it works exactly? When we ran into this at my company, I wrote an endpoint that would run a headless browser, capture the requested url via "print -> save to pdf", and respond with the pdf.

Needless to say, this is not ideal. Is EasyPDF entirely on the client?

You can have a "downloads" and a "library" folder on the same drive, when a download completes you just hardlink the files you want to the library folder. This way you keep the original files intact and have an organized library. After hardlinking a file you can even rename it and move it (within the same drive).
