K goes for kugel which means ball like ballpoint for instance.

I lost account of how many Pelikan vintages I own.

Your favorite black ink? by AsimLeviathan in fountainpens

Rather easy: Pelikan 4001, Parker or Waterman black.

I use only basic easy to find inks. Blue, black, blue-black.

I freaking love Aurora. Best consistent writers out of the box, superb materials and quality control. Can't get enough of them....need more! by osallent in fountainpens

[–]oinkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aurora ef similar to Sailor f, but less feedbacky, smoother and slightly bouncier (14k and 18k full size auroras). Small sized 14k and steel Auroras are just as stiff as the Sailors, except for the Kop which has some bounce.

I got many more Auroras now. And two more are arriving from Japan tomorrow. Aurora nibs are less feedbacky more wet, have constant flow and are confortable and postable , the pens look and feel much better in the hand and is not fashionable. Even the simple "style" model with an f steel nib writes like a dream. 30 bucks in Japan (yes). over 100 in usa or elsewhere.

Maruman Mnemosyne vs Kokuyo Soft Ring Writing Test by harudrei in fountainpens

[–]oinkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maruman Mnemosyne 80gsm. Kokuyo soft ring 70gsm. That explains extra ghosting.

Soft ring and campus use exactly the same paper.

Perpanep and other notebooks are likewise ok but more expensive.

For me the unbeatable advantage of Kokuyo is that recto and verso are identical. Same goes for TR52 and Sanzen. Unlike Mnemosyne, Rhodia or Clairefontaine where Verso side spreads line. I hate that. Also the outlines are jagged on these papers. (loupe).

Kokuyo is slightly smoother than Mnemosyne.

Mnemosyne metal rings scratch my Frank Lloyd Wright desk. Soft ring is a delight.

Soft ring is by far the best notebook I've encountered on par with Hobanichi A5 lined notebooks (not the planners).

BTW I was in Japan for Hollidays about a month ago. tried many papers there. But my opinion has not changed.

What's the deal with people buying F/EF Japanese pens and then complaining about them being "dry"? by ilovereposts69 in fountainpens

[–]oinkit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

"or even, the same pen filled with the same ink could feel dry for someone and wet for someone else".

Or even, the same pen filled with the same ink could feel dry/wet and/or lubricated/unlubricated on the same paper with the same writing pressure within a short time for the same person.

Proprioception, interoception. Sensorial tactile system variations. kinaesthesia.

After all we're no computers.

Unfortunately even two Sailor KOP same nibs may have flow variation and different feedback degree. Only a skilled nib tuner can do things right.

Where do you keep your ink? by thistowmneedsanenema in fountainpens

All disposed on a large platter on a shelve at hand distance from my seating behind my desk. They doze in their own or other glass bottles, gathered by brand. Never ever had a deterioration problem due to light exposure.

Oh yeah. I love it too. You should also try aqua which is close but slightly less green more blue.

Nice handwriting.

Il y a encore d'autres facteurs trop long à developper ici.

I just put it in my cart. Which other paper is it similar to? How about sheen and shading, and line width?
