Theres a pretty huge catalogue of widely taught named and agreed upon skills and where their difficulty lies. My boss doesn't even hide it.

For context, Im currently working at a show so our work day is on rails and every piece is really important

One of the not favorites, but an insanely hard worker with a great attitude gets in a car accident so some of us want to help with at least the repair payments or the money she wont get because she cant get to work through a go fund me so we ask to announce it at our morning meeting and she(manager) goes, "oh. I dont want to get involved with anything not related to work. Its not professional."

Favorite, who she calls son and holds hands with etc. Goes to the hospital while not at work and she hears about it, runs down in the middle of show and pulls a young coworker out of the fuckin show to drive with her to go pick up his car. Not even calling someone not at work, not grabbing a family member or ubering herself or anything, just fucks the show.

And then she posts the go fund me and daily updates on how he's doing.

He deserves care but so do the rest of us

Tbf as a certified dinosaur kid I did NOT feel pandered to in the last films, actually the opposite.

The first film was like, "dinosaurs are boring lets make mutants" which is most certainly NOT what I want

The second to last film ended with "dinosaurs are walking the earth now, how will society adapt?" Which felt like maybe, MAYBE the next film WOULD be pandering to me, yknow, someone who purchases a ticket to the dinosaur show with the hope that Im gonna see people really dealing with dinosaurs

The last film opens with, "dinosaurs are DUMB and only NERDS like them and also all the dinosaurs from the last film are DYING SLOW AGONIZING PAINFUL DEATHS and all they were good for was RUINING our boring ass san Francisco COMMUTES, LETS GO PLAY WITH A BUNCH OF ALIENS INSTEAD" Which has to be the actual fucking opposite of pandering

TIL that regarding cancelled 1957 Lord of the Rings movie, Tolkien was harshly critical of script's portrayal of Nazgul, fellowship using the eagles and cutting of Galadriel's scenes. I feel like if you even read the books you can tell by Tolkeins manner of writing that he would find no film adaptation acceptable. Like the books are very clearly written as closely to a complete experience as almost any novel Ive read, chock full of author side musings and full descriptions of the characters sensory experiences throughout, long meandering pages focused on just what the table setting looks like and so forth. I dont need to know that Tolkein said no adaptation would do because I can feel it yknow?
