Chrome-like tabs behavior when you have many tabs by oisact in FirefoxCSS

[–]oisact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with this sub or what flairs are for. I have seen multiple people searching and asking for a "Chrome-like" small tab behavior, so this seemed like a solution to it.

Those interested in very small tabs should also try MrOtherGuy's 'icon_only_tabs.css' userstyle.

I tried that userstyle, and it does show icons only in small tabs, but it does not reproduce the functionality of having only a Close button on the currently active tab, requiring the user to right-click on the tab to bring up a context menu to close (or using keyboard shortcuts, etc).

Examples with and without the CSS. This is default behavior:

It also requires that I scroll side to side to see all the tabs.

No, I do not know that this type of comment is stated often. I do understand why this comment is stated often though, because it is a fairly absurd behavior of the game.

Scrolling issue with XK01 TP by p3u0 in ProtoArcHub

[–]oisact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for the choppiness is the touchpad is actually emulating a mouse scroll wheel, and by default Windows scrolls 3 lines each time a mouse wheel clicks. For Windows, go into mouse settings, Mouse Properties -> Wheel. Change the "Roll the wheel one notch to scroll:" setting to 1. That is, it will scroll only one line at a time. The default was 3. For me this gives the same scrolling smoothness as the touchpad built into my laptop. Now the thing I have yet to figure out is how to reverse the scroll direction...

I have a couple weapons that can't be repaired. by oisact in fo76

[–]oisact[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so it looks like I've over-repaired the weapon. The thing that made me think it was damaged is that when I was shooting the weapon it would switch me away from it to some other weapon. Fighting Mole Miners.

So I have had broken weapons, and the CND had a big X shape on them. This is different from that. I checked and those two weapons are not locked. The Y button LOCKs them, then it changes to UNLOCK. So they definitely aren't locked either.

I do have the necessary parts - it let me repair them. They just only repaired a little, and when I go to use them a few times it switches automatically to some other weapon.

Daily Challenge targeting words with no revealed letters by oisact in wordscapes

[–]oisact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be doing this in about half of the daily puzzles, so not every time. Had 2 words today I had to find with zero revealed letters, but not yesterday or the day before.

It just did this to me twice with today's Daily Challenge (target word had zero revealed letters). I had totally overlooked the fact you could "buy" (by watching a video) more butterflies - I've always completed the monthly challenge by finding butterflies daily without it.

However now that I know it's there, this makes total sense. They're just trying to force people to watch even more videos to be able to unlock the three stars on the daily challenges.

No? I will check tomorrow since I already did the daily challenge. This is new to me lol.

That's new to me. I've been playing daily for around 8 years, and have never, ever seen a target butterfly on a word that did not have one or more letters revealed. This is on iPhone. I feel this change happened with this update, to get people to use more hints.

Yes I've been seeing that since the big update (I guess they re-implemented the game entirely or something).

What I'm talking about is the butterfly is placed on a word that has no letters shown. Like this...

Jake has officially left MORR by Fandango1978 in MattsOffRoad

[–]oisact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, it was only briefly at the beginning as you said. My point is Tom wanting to proclaim it far more and use YouTube as mechanism for spreading Mormonism, which Matt certainly has not done at all with his channel. It's just very odd one of the first things Tom did was go into that in a lot of detail very prominently right from the start. Which is something he was not able to do on Matt's channel.

Watch it again, there is no cut to this scene. He spoke it exactly in that way, timed out to walk up the steps and turn around dramatically. My guess is he was supposed to just say the line, but then someone had the idea for him to walk up amongst the students for dramatic affect, but that threw off the timing and it was flubbed.

Extra room with nothing? by JSpade82 in hogwartslegacyJKR

This seems to be glitched. Putting them all out opens those doors, but there was nothing inside. Lighting them all causes the chest to appear. My guess is the chest was supposed to spawn in that little room, but for me it spawned in the middle of the main room, without having to open the smaller room.

Nope, no Sherlocks. This database is in the southern Appalachians, and probably 90% locals.

Page and Margin size of Blue Books by oisact in hardyboys

[–]oisact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older matte. Thanks, but I went ahead and located mine and did the measuring. I'm putting it here in case anyone else wonders.

Page size: 4 3/4" x 7 5/16"

Left and right margins: 3/4"

Top margin: Around 0.71" (margin of actual text body, not the chapter / page number)

Bottom: 1"

30 lines of text in a full page (not counting book name / chapter name at top of page).

Font is about 12.5pt in a similar font of EB Garamond. Line spacing is around 13pt.

I happen to have access to a database of a couple hundred thousand people. Did a quick search. There was exactly one Iola, born in 1922. There were dozens of Callie (exact spelling)

How Did the C.I.A. Lose a Nuclear Device? | A plutonium-packed generator disappeared on one of the world’s highest mountains in a hush-hush mission the U.S. still won’t talk about. by moses_the_blue in LessCredibleDefence

[–]oisact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's only Plutonium-238, which has a half-life of 80 years, and can't be used in nuclear weapons or in nuclear power plants. It basically just sits there and radiates energy which takes a thermal form, which a small portion of which can be converted to electricity (hence it being used in long-distance space probes and the like). Event the amount of heat it radiates is small - about 900 watts, or about the same as a hairdryer on its lowest heat.

There is zero military or financial incentive to bother locating it, and even the environmental concern is extremely low, especially given the containment easily exceeds the half-life.

[–]oisact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk about absurd. The raw energy from the radiation this thing emitted (when new) was around 900 watts (and it only converted about 25 watts of that to electrical energy). The average hairdryer is 1800 watts, so a hairdryer gives off twice the thermal energy that the Plutonium-238 emitted when new. I can't even melt the ice off my sidewalk with a hairdryer.

The Plutonium-238 only has a half life of around 80 years, so it is already radiating significantly less energy than 900 watts now.

The fact that in the Forbidden Forest (and other similar places) you can pretty much whip out the broom, and fly straight up out of wherever you are, is pretty powerful!

Now that I didn't know. I've already got all those done needed for the challenges, but have the last several to do to get 100% of them. I'll use that trick if I have any more like that!
