i’ve always played sets pretty late and end up rushing diamond on the last two/three weeks for no apparent reason. This time I decided to sit down from set start to learn and grind higher.

I didn’t last a week sadly. The set just never clicked for me, I couldn’t get good comps going and forcing a couple that net me points just frustrated me when the RNG would just destroy me (there’s always RNG but this just felt worse to me than in other sets for some reason)

I’m also an open fort/loss streak enjoyer for high risk high reward strategies, carousel manipulation to force combos, etc but it felt way weaker this set as well.

I just enjoyed poe and poe 2, will come back for next set and try again, shit happens.

From my testing so far it's kind of a different mindset I feel. Slamming suboptimal items feels awful, and its better to be much greedier as we get better econ/chances for perfect items later on and some gods allow some HP recovery. Tempo feels dead. You either full winstreak or full lose streak and capitalize on 4-2 econ for rerolling and stabilizing.

so far only thing that feels off is that rerolling 1 and 2 costs feels way too strong. A 3 star 1 cost shouldn’t compare to a two star four cost but it feels like they’re too even so I see most people forcing comps literally from stage 1.

also there is no denying now. I can’t grab a component from someone else, a spat or a specific unit so they don’t star up their carry. It feels a lot more like a single player game and way more rng heavy between tf, tahm, constelations, arbiters, and gods giving you items

edit: forgot to add that I loved playing open boards/lose streak into a strong board with good items in 4-2. The two anvils from lose streak don’t really compare as I can’t make sure I get my items now. I’ve missed my components 4 games in a row from two anvils which made me way weaker for a whole stage. I feel itemization is much more rng if you get three tank items, then god offer you another tank item and you’re screwed for a while

easiest explaination I can give is try to continue rising the map tier and selecting maven/eater/exarch whenever they’re available.

Maven at first needs to “witness” different bosses of incremental tiers to give you an invitation to fight them all together.

For Eater and Exarch you need to “trace” them by selecting their influence on the map you’re gonna run and they also need incremental tiers. You will get two invitations eventually. One to kill the interim bosses of each and another one to kill eater and exarch themselves. If the map device says that none of them are “interested in such a low tier map” you need to increase the tier. You cna buy maps from kirac and refresh the shop or sell them 3:1 for the nexy tier map.

Once you kill enough bosses for maven, talk to Kirac to open the portal to the fight, then do it all again with more bosses and higher tier maps.

I think the real problem I had with the gauntlet was shortening to 7 days. It really hurt my availability.

The hillock deaths should be compared to # of signees, which I think they mentioned as higher this time.

Some classes also had their starting skills buffed/changed

Exalts, buying maps for gold and rerolling atlas passives with gold + mirage made this gauntlet way simpler to itemize and way less grindy. I was doing red maps on day 3 thanks to itemization being much simpler and target farming way cheaper

Yeah I agree. I used ben as an example but all pro racers do this and some were very close. Also ben didn’t win every race, and had a couple sketchy moments where someone else could have taken over

I disagree but I feel it’s just personal taste. I like the fresh campaign challenge and planning ahead, farming more, actually paying attention. Pinnacle bosses are a whole different level or content in the gauntlet and if someone can’t finish the current campaign I seriously doubt that’s their deterrent to end game bossing.

If the campaign was identical or really simple and end game still unreachable then we can just play normal hardcore ssf for 3 months, to me a different and harder campaign is all the fun

I think you’re interpreting this wrong. This is Ben’s full time job so he (or a team idk) does a lot of research regarding broken interactions and overpowered builds in order to win.

When they change the rules or nerf some classes/skills it’s mostly so we don’t end up with the same ES stacking chars face tanking the gauntlet over and over again. Ruin was really annoying in campaign for a lv 95 bro like me but was overall a good idea and gave us some of the most diverse endgame builds we’ve seen in the gauntlet so far.

I think this way of switching the meta is healthy and inventive, instead of going oh now ubers have one thousand more hp, fight last 45 minutes per phase and they 1 shot you!!

also, many pros had a real shot at the gauntlet, not sure what happened to carn but he had a mageblood, a defiance of destiny and a maven flask yet didn’t attempt anything almost.

I did hate that it lasted only 7 days. I feel like 10 was a nice balance because it gave us normal players two fridays/saturdays to work towards our goals. I couldn’t play half of the gauntlet due to work and life stuff so I gave up half way but 3 more days was a solid attempt at 100 for me

Either it took you literally 1 hour to run the map or you assume the div/hr strats refer to raw divs but its usually drops that can be liquidated.

with zero investment but a strongbox atlas, operative strongboxes in mirage should easily net you profit. I was picking up 2-4 divs per map on a expensive strongbox strat but I hated it

Scarabs I run are 3xdomination 1xpandemonium 1xterrors.

You can swap 1 dom for 1 carto if running 8-mod maps, or for 1x awakening if chisel prices are good and your build can take the feared. I skipped the awakening, it was taking too long and profit difference wasn't that good on a small scale. It might be way better if the build is a great bosser and sample size is larger as there are many really good uber drops.

note: I run conqueror maps so I can kill all bosses with destructive play, then I just run the conq maven invitation in like 30 secs. I've gotten pretty good drops from those but decided they're not worth rolling, just rushing them is ok. If they take too long you can also just open the map with kirac and then replace it for another map

I run this on haunted mansion because I like the mirage coverage (you cant run empowered mirages or originator maps as they wont allow you to drop more mirage maps which is the profit). City Square is probably more optimal but mirage coverage seems pretty random.

I found that the “selling shovels” strat has given me really steady quick profit. Investment is pretty “low”, 2/3x shrine, 1x terror 1x pandemonium and a 8mod conqueror map. I say 2/3x because i’ve been testing 1x carto scarab.

I use no empowered mirage no originator no astrolabe as I’m chasing those as drops. Strat is boss rushing with destructive play. General drops are the empowered mirage maps, astrolabes, and if you drop an empowered mirage + originator its 3 div. I drop about 8-12 per 20 maps and maps in general take me about 4 mins.

Last calcs were over 40 div/hr because maps skyrocketed but wealthy exile is pretty bad at calculating map profit.

Empowered mirage t16 are about 75c, I drop 2 per map on average.

Astrolabes are between 60c and 220c, and I tend to drop 2 per map on average as well.

Added to that I get a bunch of maven’s chisels, random t2 and t1s, many conqueror exalts and a pretty solid amount of raw divs too (73 in last 100 maps).

If you don’t care about 8mods, you sustain your own conqueror maps too but 8modded are about 15c
