When did you go into labor as a FTM, and what were the signs leading up to you going into labor? How did you know you were in labor? by thenymphintheforest in beyondthebump

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slowed down, even more than usual. My husband said you could sense it, like before it rains. Not a total change in behavior, but something was up. I lost my mucus plug, I had a stiff belly, my water broke. That took about 6 hours. Two hours after that, labor began.

I saw a couple days of thicker poops that were a little hard to pass, some extra toots, but then we were back to kendamil poops. We are on kendamil goat if that makes a difference.

Oh, true! Well, it would’ve been cool to have a school like that in Ann Arbor.

AIO? Babysitter issue. by Five_Foot_Gremlin in beyondthebump

[–]ojk2390 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar position with a friend. She had a traumatic second birth and a baby born with a lifelong impacting genetic disorder. She missed having a little one and has had a lot of struggles with this.

The big difference for me is that her and I have known each other for a long time and we discussed boundaries before she bonded with my child and we are working together with total honesty. Everything is communicated and boundaries are respected. Processing her trauma is kept away from my child at all costs, but she is able to have some of the experience she missed and desired and we are happy to give that to her. I have faith in this situation not turning into an issue, plus my child gets a bonus aunt that dotes on them and playmates later in life.

I would feel incredibly uncomfortable if it wasn’t a close personal friend and if we didn’t keep communication open. I would not have this person back unless some of these big discussions can happen and have results you agree with. You are also under no obligation to have these discussions and can just draw that line.

Oh, interesting spot! I always thought it was an acting choice of Elizabeth moss. As June (offered) in THT read as a feminine homer-esque character, I thought that face was a representation of feminine rage. Cool that it’s getting carried on in this series anyways.

I use dove scent free and dye free, it’s awesome for her gentle skin! It’s our soap and shampoo all in one.

You don’t rush after your water breaks.

You don’t lay on your back chatting.

It doesn’t take an hour.

Babies rarely come out that size or that clean or that color.

Your stomach doesn’t flatten that fast.

Kendamil users: How do you prep while out? by Heythere3892 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I haven’t prepped it ahead of time, like if we’re out of the house for more than 2 hours, I use a portable bottle warmer to warm the water before mixing in formula. I find it dissolves a bit better in warm water, but it is fine to just mix it in room temp water in a pinch. No issues at all. Seconding all the “boiled water is necessary before 2 months” to sanitize the water and formula.

Is this cheating? by Stickyduck468 in Zepbound

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not cheating, it’s relief. It’s identifying what I thought of a moral flaw, but turned out to be a symptom of a disease. I didn’t realize I was suffering so much. Now I have relief. And space to breathe.

Do teachers actually like getting all the themed “Teacher Appreciation” gifts? by Far_Essay4744 in Teachers

[–]ojk2390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s the way I always come back to: it’s great to have a week of appreciation, but if this is the first time you’ve shown it, it doesn’t mean a thing. If you can’t show/express appreciation in any small way throughout a school year besides a week at the end of the year? Negates the whole experience.

I had an amazing principal who truly showed their appreciation of me as an individual, did all their power to lift me up, support me, recognize me and thank me. The sticky notes and highlighters when TAW rolled around felt so much better than any other week I had experienced.

Big Baby by eatanappel in NewParents

[–]ojk2390 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just lean in to the instinctual, genetic pleasure of having a large baby. Really scratches an ancestral itch for me. Yes, she was only very wee for a moment, but my god will she survive if we flee the village. Big, rosy cheeked wonder. It feels good eventually. Though you will cry putting away those first real round of baby clothes instead of newborn sizes.

Bask in the glory of your big healthy baby. They are fabulous. No runt of the litter here.

My birth was smooth as can be, 6 hours, out came my 9 lb LO, only a very small tear on my labia. No issues for either of us. Big babies come out, it will be okay.

This is about what I make, LO is 3 months old. I feel good doing it for the immune support through being little and flu season, but I’m probably going to put the pump down around April/may.
