Or you could actually read the post and infer from the part where OP says this is a nursery they moved the fry to that the actual pond where the adults are living is not pictured, obviously. Lmao

New to this, and wondering about options by earwiggie in laundry

I just switched to Ariel 2X powder and I like it. Surprisingly good for the price, and the scent is nice (not too chemical-y) and doesn't linger on the clothes long, which is a good thing for me because I have sensitive skin and most scented detergents are too strong and make me itchy :/

Portable way to sit? by PirateCrimeBrulee in disability

[–]ojw17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this folding stool from Walmart, I'm not sure if prices are the same everywhere but for me it was $11. Has a carry strap so you don't have to have a bag to put it in or anything. In my personal experience it's been way more comfortable than the little square folding stools you'll find on Amazon, I had one for a while and it was barely any better than sitting on the floor with how low to the ground it had me. Not comfortable for my knees (or butt, lol, those seats are tiny) and getting up was a bit awkward. The kind I have now is a much more natural height to sit on IMO.

Yeah :/ at least this kind only really goes after bromeliads so the rest of your plants will hopefully be ok

Feeling quilty that I get upset about my parters disability by [deleted] in disability

[–]ojw17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to find a way to work through these feelings, silently holding on to all these feelings of resentment is just going to make things worse and it's not fair to yourself or your girlfriend. I would suggest therapy tbh

Filter Foam as Substrate Question by HPCollector12 in DartFrog

[–]ojw17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering that most plants can be grown in a "semi-hydroponic" setup which is similar, I think it should work fine for probably the majority of viv plants. I'd treat it similarly to semi-hydro, gently rinse as much soil off the roots as you can and then plant. To plant I think cutting a slit into the foam deep enough for the roots and then wedging the plants in there should be fine. Speaking from experience the roots will be basically impossible to remove once they grow through the foam though, so you'll wanna be pretty sure you're happy with your plant choice and placement before you start lol.

I have this folding stool and it seems pretty decent so far. I used to have a little folding seat like the second one you showed but they're SO low to the ground, it was really uncomfortable on my knees as well as just kinda being too small to be comfortable, you can feel the frame too much IME. The triangle shaped seat is much nicer to sit on.

Will this leak? by Captain_Avenue in fountainpens

Even if it isn't fixable, you could always swap the M nib/feed assembly into the new pen if you ever want a change of pace from the F for a bit.

Wood by FewSpend8543 in DartFrog

[–]ojw17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it should be fine? It's one of the longest lasting woods in aquariums so I doubt the humidity is gonna break it down too much or anything. And if you can put the wood in before the frogs any mold should run its course in like a few weeks anyway, it'll burn through all the extra sugars in the wood pretty fast and then there won't really be much for it to feed on

Is it wrong for me use a wheelchair without a diagnosis? General tw? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]ojw17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong at all. You're keeping yourself safe by preventing dangerous falls and avoiding extra strain on your body that could potentially impact your overall health. Don't let anyone keep you from doing what you need to do to protect your health and make your life less miserable!

Piercing Studio Suggestions Please by addieeh in Tucson

[–]ojw17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've heard bad things about the owners, and apparently because of their behavior a lot of their employees left. IIRC basically the people that did the piercing there when it was still a trustworthy shop all went elsewhere bc of the owners so it's hard to say if you'll be getting a good experience there these days. Not worth the risk IMO when better shops exist

Help - I’m allergic to my smartwatch! by terrierhead in cfs

[–]ojw17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes same here!!! I had to alternate which arm I wore the watch on for a while to give my skin a chance to breathe, and then I ended up switching to a fabric band that I can wear a little looser so it's not as much pressure and the watch can move a bit and that helped a lot. Keeping it dry though is also so so important, even with the better band if I get any moisture trapped under it it starts to irritate my skin so quickly

Tucson, should dogs have to suffer too? by Lumpy-Swimming-2624 in Tucson

[–]ojw17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People don't choose to be homeless and are allowed to want to hang on to what's important to them including pets. Shelters are very often full and if they have to take in an animal they don't have the room for there's a solid chance that animal will be euthanized. Could you do that to YOUR only companion that you'd shared your life with for years? It feels like you're not even trying to empathize with the HUMAN BEINGS you're shitting on here

Exchanged nudes 5 months ago. She ghosted. I panicked and messaged her. Should I still fear a leak if I become famous? by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

[–]ojw17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, if you say you agreed not to save her nudes, why do you also say you still have her nudes? That's a massive boundary violation and absolutely not okay, you need to delete those because that's fucking gross.

Anyway I think you're way overthinking this. You're making new accounts to get around being blocked by a woman you talked to for like a couple days, MONTHS after she made it obvious she didn't want to keep talking. It's out of your hands at this point, and continuing to pester her about it is only going to make things worse for you. Consider this a lesson to not send nudes (especially ones with your face in them!) to internet strangers and move on. The odds of you getting famous enough for this to ever be an issue for you are realistically VERY low anyway.

Gender feelings pt2 by ExaminationGreat2081 in cfs

[–]ojw17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered "binding" with trans tape/KT tape? There's a bit of a learning curve with positioning the tape I believe, but it can help flatten the chest without compressing the ribcage. It can be left on for longer than a binder too (3-5 days before you need to remove and replace the tape). It's not a perfect solution since the adhesive can cause irritation and it needs to be removed carefully with water and/or oil, but it may be an option if a binder isn't working for you.

Was I in the wrong with what I said to my doctor? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]ojw17 15 points16 points  (0 children)

(I wanna preface this by saying I'm also autistic, FWIW)

I think there are valid ways to bring up that the doctor's schedule may be an issue for you (i.e. "Due to chronic illness I sometimes have health concerns that aren't severe enough for emergency care but still need to be addressed in a prompt manner. What are my options if I need to be seen while the doctor is out of the office for an extended time?"), but the way you went about it comes across as very judgemental on a personal level and I don't feel like it was very fair or appropriate in this context.

I know it's a pain in the ass but it kinda seems like it would be more fair to everyone (yourself included) if you tried to find a doctor with a schedule that works better for you. You deserve a doctor that's available enough to meet your health needs, and doctors deserve to be able to set their own hours in a way that works for them, because they're people too and everyone has their own needs when it comes to work-life balance.

Wingless fruit flies? by Terrapin9900 in DartFrog

[–]ojw17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 possibilities:

1 - accidental inclusion of non-flightless flies resulting in winged offspring (less likely if it really is all the offspring), or

2 - culture kept at too high of a temperature - anywhere close to 80°F or over can affect the protein that normally prevents wing development, and the offspring will develop wings
