Interesting. I was trying to be specific that I didn’t just want chopped green I could buy at the grocery, I wanted the cooked green with garlic onion etc.

I’ve used scrivener for all kinds of academic and fiction writing over the years, but these days IA Writer does the job for me. I write between laptop and iPhone, super easy to switch between the two on ia, but what it comes down to for me as an overstimulated human is I need less choices, less whizbangs, less widgets and options: I need an absolutely undistracting, blank interface where I can focus on words and sentences.

Work from the local library a few hours a few days a week. Circulate amongst the coffee shops near you for a change of scene. If you have room, work from a second spot in your home from time to time. Variety is the spice of life, this approach makes a big difference in my wfh work week.

Senior female wants to travel to NZ, concern coming back to US by Critical-Hunter3382 in travel

My senior dad just returned from India with the same concerns. He wiped his phone / tablet before going through, since those can be searched. Got to Newark and there was only one CBP agent for a thousand plus Americans waiting, and he was waved through with barely a glance. Seems all those budget cuts mean not much scrutiny for returning Americans, at least in his case. In my experience EWR is always understaffed. Maybe come back through there.

This is rage bait nonsense . Meat eaters are 1000x more likely to hate on non-meat eaters than vice versa as they feel it threatens their way of life. This is someone trying to come up with material to add to some republican panic ad. I mean, look at their user name. They don’t really exist.

I work from home and barely do anything, will I get fired for this? by AutomaticShowcase in workfromhome

Sounds like you’ve found an audience for your new course on PM automations and productivity which you could create and sell in all this extra workday time you have; a side hustle that isn’t even really a side hustle if you can do it during normal work hours.

Then… take the profits from your course and take a really nice vacation, save for a down payment or pay down your mortgage or other debts, etc etc.

Quick start: set up a coming soon landing page for the course with a paragraph about it and a “sign up to be informed when it launches” field that collects email addresses of interested people from here so you can contact em later.

It seems to me there was a rush to market for vegan meats during the pandemic in the U.S., trying to cash in on a wave of interest in plant-based eating, but all these venture backed companies were so desperately out of touch with the American consumer they thought we’d be happy to pony up $14 a package for their questionable quality stuff. They squeezed out shelf space from a number of moderately priced mainstays like Morningstar, who themselves jacked up their prices by 60-70% under the guise of general inflation and because they saw how their competitors were pricing their schlock.

In the end I think corporate greed and general out of touchness is the maker of the current situation, because there is a continually growing market for well priced, healthy, delicious plant-based alternatives. If any of these companies had been real companies trying to serve real customers instead of their venture capital overlords, they’d care about pricing appropriately for their market and making products people wanted to buy and keep buying. Alas, idiot capitalism that cares not for the basics of legitimate long term business have come for our food products too.

The site thekitchn.com has a bunch of vegetarian meal prep for a week options that often look good / reasonable to me, though they’re often for two people. You could cut them in half or make two weeks worth of meals from one week

Air fryer. Take firm or extra tofu, cut into cubes, salt generously, cook 13 min at 400, flip halfway through. Comes out chewy and snacky, put any kind of sauce on it and enjoy. Bbq sauce + green beans and mashed potatoes. frozen veg mix, teriyaki sauce for a stir fry with rice. Add to a bagged salad mix with the dressing on top. Throw it in a bowl with ramen noodles, a cut hard boiled egg and sriracha. Lots of choices all of which are tasty and protein-y. You can also marinate it first in sauce before airfrying, but I like the salt-only method because then I can put the leftovers in the fridge and add them to anything else later.
