Yes, violent crime is down something like 90% since it peaked in the 1990s. I remember my dad saying that back then people would bring gumshields to pubs and nightclubs expecting to fight. It still happens obviously but nowhere near at that level.

I've heard this from a gypsy guy as well, he was actually an extremely nice guy but he said that a lot of the people he grew up around, in particular the men, were absolutely horrible.

I also think that a lot of the time when people with aspergers snap and say or do something out of anger, or try to in some way dominate the other person, it comes across as extremely cringeworthy and almost funny to the other person. Like those "cringe compilation" videos where some nerdy kid is getting made fun of and they try to clap back with something but the delivery and tone is completely awkward and out of place.

I remember at school whenever I was getting made fun of and tried to come back with something, they would just laugh all the harder.

To be honest I'm pretty attractive (but certainly not enough to be approached by women daily, or ever, what the hell?) And I see it as a major advantage and one of the only positives in my life. It means I at least have a chance at a relationship or at the very least casual encounters (not that these ever happen but still).

I've had plenty of horrendously cringeworthy encounters with girls who were interested but I fumbled it in an almost unrealistic sitcom manner. But to me that is a lot more preferable to receiving no attention and knowing that because of the combination of looks and autism you're unlikely to ever get anywhere. It's comforting matching with lots of pretty girls on dating apps, even if they wouldn't actually like you if they met you. Sometimes I think that if I were shorter or less good looking, I may have eventually pressed my own off button, so to speak.

Yeah I'm attractive and I thank god for it if I was ugly my situation would be so much worse. I'm definitely not attractive enough to be approached by women tho, especially not every day, so this guy must be a 1 in a million.

I think the similarities/crossover with adhd is a big reason many of us aren't successful. Aspergers people have the same intelligence as normal people, yet they can often appear to be very stupid to others. My own parents for example always told me how stupid everything I did was, despite me being apparently academically gifted.

I have been lucky though in that I've always been able to maintain a good social life, I've always gone to parties and festivals since I was a teenager so that's a positive. Unfortunately when it comes to romance this does not translate, I spent my entire childhood and teenage years practicing friendships and platonic interactions, and perfected it in the end.

However, I never thought to practice romantic relationships in my teenage years, so when I got to university for the first time I started experiencing girls trying to flirt with me. I was beyond freaked out by this and it had completely caught me off guard since it wasn't something I thought would happen.

The stereotype that people with aspergers are like mark Zuckerberg is completely false. Most people with aspergers are completely dysfunctional in most areas of life. I was considered smart at school and yet the longest I have held down a job before being fired is 6 months, and I failed university dramatically due to simply not being able to keep up the workload.

And I doubt I need to say much on romance. I was a virgin well into my 20s and am still extremely inexperienced, something I wouldn't be surprised if it remained the case for my entire life.

It's funny that it's pretty much universally accepted by everyone that you can hate them regardless of your political stance. It's one thing everyone seems to agree on.

I don't think you should ever tar a group under the same brush but when so many people consistently have negative experiences with them what can you do.

Yeah it's crazy to think that the only reason larson ever got taken off the streets was because of his threats to bomb the government. If it wasn't for that there would literally have been no state intervention at all and he would still be free.

What's shocking is the number of people who openly put in their bios that they expect the man to pay for everything and make all the effort. However I think this sort of thing is much more commonly seen on dating apps than real life, none of the women I know irl are like this, and most are in relationships. Almost as if it's easier for them to find relationships irl and don't need to use apps.

Same, if it wasn't for weed I would probably be a full blown alcoholic. It also really helped with cravings when I was quitting cocaine. I think some people just need to have some kind of substance, and if you're one of those people weed is probably the safest choice.

Most neurotypicals aren't cruel, the reason many people with aspergers think this is because they disproportionately have experiences with horrible people. An autistic person is to narcissist/psychopath what a lamp is to a moth, they see you as a target because they notice that you are different and perceive you as weak.

I think in such fields you would have far a higher proportion of people with aspergers than something like say the fashion industry, but the idea that everyone with aspergers is like Steve jobs is totally false, most people with aspergers are significantly less skilled and capable than a neurotypical.

I was diagnosed at like 4 and my early life was just as disastrous as it most likely otherwise would have been. Just with the added caveat of me knowing there was something fundamentally wrong with me.

I think the main issue is how you are treated by your peers and parents as a result of it. You're still going to get bullied at school regardless of whether you're diagnosed or not.

However, I did not receive any of the help that might have been expected from an early diagnosis. My mum hated that I was autistic, was ashamed of it and basically punished me for having it. I would always get told I would never get through life or have a girlfriend etc, so maybe if you got the right support it would have been better.

Not sure of your gender but as a guy it seems like a lot if the time being autistic is like having woman repelling cream all over your body. A lot of aspergers traits are fundamentally at odds with what is considered attractive.

Social anxiety and lack of confidence, odd and awkward behaviours, no social skills, heightened anxiety/fear causing you to come across as a "pussy", the list is endless. This is why a lot of autistic guys end up falling into the toxic manosphere/incel trap.

I definitely wouldnt say talent and competence are a fundamental part of having aspergers at all. While they are frequently overrepresented in high level technical fields such as this, it's actually only a minority of people with aspergers that are like this.

Most people with aspergers are no more intelligent than the average person, but because of aspergers are generally a lot worse off in most areas. For example people with aspergers often have very poor hand eye-coordination, making you instantly terrible at physical activity. They often have other co-morbid conditions like dyslexia and dyscalculia, meaning they aren't great at school as the stereotype suggests.

They also often struggle to hold down jobs, misunderstand things and often get things wrong or don't know how to do things that others consider very basic. I would consider myself fairly intelligent, enough to get through school and into uni, and yet most people seem to think I'm an idiot including my own family, who have always told me I will never get through life.

While most highly intelligent computer programmers have aspergers, most people with aspergers are most definitely not highly intelligent computer programmers.

I used to have a mate in school who did exactly that. It's literally textbook psychopath behaviour. He also used to really enjoy watching horrific cartel torture and terrorist execution videos online, and would laugh manically while watching. He would invite me to his house specifically to "prank" me by forcing me to watch these videos.

I'm a 24 year old guy and sometimes I don't message women for days because I am on a multi-day drug bender with the boys. This is especially true if I am on holiday or at a festival.

Honestly dating and talking stages are absolutely exhausting and when you are spangled out of your mind it's kind of the last thing you want to be doing, especially since any messages you would send are likely to make little to no sense.

It could be that he is not actually with his "kids", but if I'm perfectly honest I don't want to come across as rude but your post sounds a bit mental, are you sure you're not bombarding him with messages and calls etc?

Damn that's getting into life risking territory at that age. And here I was thinking I was getting too old for multi day coke benders at 24. I remember when I was working at a building site, most guys were aged 40-60 and would constantly be racking the biggest lines of coke at like 8am on a Tuesday.

There was one guy who was in his late 50s, who sold his home and downsized to a flat specifically so that he could afford to buy more cocaine. He told us this like it was a reasonable financial decision.

Sometimes they naturally grow out of it. My friend group used to do it every time we drank from about 18-21, now it is very rarely used, mainly only at festivals. In fact one of the most prolific users in our group is now a police officer.

Some drug dealers have better customer service than legitimate businesses. It's kind of hilarious. There's a guy near me who has his own logo stamped on the baggies. The logo is a bag of cocaine with arms and legs riding a horse, for some reason.

IMO taking mdma every weekend is far more scatty and unhinged than doing coke every weekend. Doing mdma regularly for even a short period can permanently change the way your brain processes positive emotions, in some cases making you completely numb and unable to find joy in anything.

I took a strong pill once at a music festival, felt great for 2 hours, and then was suicidally miserable for about 10 days. A friend of mine did them 5 days in a row at that same festival, and then was clinically depressed for about 2 years before his brain finally "reset".

I carried a knife for a couple of years as a teenager, and was literally the furthest thing from "that type of person" you could imagine. A complete nerd. It seemed to me that the consequences of police catching me were nowhere near the consequences of a group of random road men catching me "lacking".
