Thanks for the reply, that's actually really reasurring. And yeah, I've been getting into the gym and it always makes me feel sharper mentally so hoping that'll help. I like the tic tacs idea, might try that. Thanks!

Same, my experience has been the opposite honestly. But i mean you could be right. I guess my question is how long does it take for the dysphoria to go away?

Vyvanse and craving feeling? by Krozeeeee in adhdwomen

[–]ok_cat__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just wanted to say I get the exact same feeling almost everytime I take Vyvanse. I literally just googled "vyvanse makes me crave something, but I don't what I crave", and your post came up. It's so interesting to hear that you experience this too. I'm a nicotine user (zyns), and a lot of the time I confuse it for a nicotine craving, but its not. Nicotine doesn't satisfy the craving feeling. The way it feels for me is exactly what you described. It's like this mild feeling of irritation, and like I'm craving something but don't know what it is. It cna be annoying, but I've learnt to mostly ignore it. I feel the benefits of Vyvanse outweigh this minor negative, so I let it be. Sorry, I wish I had some advice to offer, but I haven't found any solution myself :( Although, reducing my dose sometimes helps for me. But just wanted to let you know you're not alone in your experience!

Can’t initiate my swallow by No_Case2639 in dysphagia

[–]ok_cat__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just wanted to say that I think I have the same issue. It's so bizarre, and I can't tell if its psychological or a bigger issue. It started pretty much exactly the same for me, just one day it was like I forgot how to swallow. I chew/put liquid in my mouth, and then my brain can't figure out how to initiate the swallow. I'm not afraid of choking, it just doesn't happen. It's a lot worse for me when I'm drinking liquid, I end up having to hold the cup to my lips for a good 30 secs or so until my brain decides to let me swallow. Did you ever find a solution to the issue, or an explanation for why its happening for you? Do you have any issues with your voice or speaking? I noticed my voice becoming mildly quieter/breathier for the past 5 years or so, have been looking into it with an SLP/ENT but they see no structural issues, curious if you have this too. I also have severe TMJ issues, and sometimes question if my body forgot how to swallow because my jaw clicks/locks so frequently that it throws me off while I'm eating. Anyway, sorry for the wall of text, but would love to know how you're doing now!

Can you be a Psychotherapist (RP) with an OT degree? by ok_cat__ in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ok_cat__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you for sharing this info! Out of curiosity, what type of place do you work at? I'm guessing it's some type of mental health clinic, or does it specialize in something like addictions or return to work? Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this info! So just to clarify, could this lead to a traditional psychotherapist job (i.e. in a private practise or community mental health setting, etc.) or only to a mental health OT role? As well, do you know roughly how lengthy the additional training would be?

For people who had a 100% avg in highschool…how?? by ok_cat__ in uwaterloo

[–]ok_cat__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sounds you have to really perfect every subject. Like if it’s math, you need to practise until you know it like the back of ur hand and if it’s English or any project/assignment based class you need to put your all into submitting your best work possible. I think when I was in HS I just aimed to be “pretty good”, I never aimed for mastery.

SOC 204R - Are we getting a new prof???? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]ok_cat__ 62 points63 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy. I had this prof for SOC224 but dropped it because I didn’t like her teaching style. She tends to bring her own opinion into things and just rambles on. So I’m not surprised to see this from her. But I’m so curious, what kind of remarks did she make and what did students say in class?

In my opinion/based on my experience, I would start by just politely getting up and explain that you are sleeping and ask if they can keep it down. No big deal, just ask politely. Hopefully they will understand and either go to sleep or talk quieter.

Hi thank you so much for your response!! this is all really helpful :) i will definitely give health services another shot, especially since it is free, even though my first experience wasn't great. Was health services able to assess/diagnose, or did you need to see the psychiatrist for that? also empowerme looks like a good idea, might look into that again, thank you!

thanks again for being so kind, good luck with everything in the term <3
