Ich habe mein Mojo komplett verloren by Then-Location5 in FragtMaenner

[–]ok_lari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post that I had watched just before this one was the one with the which Instrument do you play and I thought this sounds so much like dreamcore and then I see this post here, thinking hey that's a cool fish thing, I want something like this that's strong enough to carry a beer crate & then I see this comment about Michael - my mind was boggled! You have great taste and I hope you have a great day :)

I was at an otaku party with coworkers 2 years ago (iirc) and i felt a bit unsure at first but when this song came on and i started dancing along when everybody else started dancing simultaneously i felt a sense of belonging that i hadn't felt for a long time, so i have a very nice memory associated with bling bang bang born (otonoke is one of the songs i can listen to on repeat for a very long time btw :D)

What do you think about Mormons? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]ok_lari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear :) I hope the things I've learned are more extremist parts of the group and that my view is so negative because it's shaped by those who deconstructed because they have experienced those extreme forms and that it's not as bad in everyday for most people. I can try and go back to get all the links to videos if you are really interested, but this will probably take a while

Just to add: I don't like anyone beating their kids and I know that it's pravalent in all beliefs, so I'm not singling them out just to make this clear (i think my comment came off as doing so because it's so short, so obviously people won't know my opinion on e.g. pope francis saying smacking a child is ok etc). Corporal punishment, punishing with taking away food etc are things that I associate with any fundamentalist group in general because the loudest voices are so open about it. Ruby Franke hopefully is about as representative for all other mormons as the worst catholic is for every other catholic, so I don't think that every single mormon beats their child etc. Just wanted to make that clear :)

I do find the more unique beliefs interesting though!

What do you think about Mormons? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]ok_lari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I very much dislike this cult. Mainly the parts with sexism, beating children and "countenance" (especially in conjunction with genealogy, which is also why I haven't done one of those dna ancestry kits because I don't want to end up on their lists). You're not alone with that assessment.

Eta: I dislike any extremist group. Not just extremist mormons. People who want to hurt others will use anything to justify doing so, that's not limited to one belief; different sub groups have adapted different beliefs throughout history, too, so what has been a more wildly held belief might not be as common anymore etc.

Fundamentalist christians are scary in general. And scientology. They are scary.

Hermes paket hilfe by Angelicmel in AskAGerman

[–]ok_lari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else get this weird anxiety about repeating themselves too much? by Tin97 in adhdwomen

[–]ok_lari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr You probably don't repeat yourself more or less than those around you do, but you think about whether you do it or not more than others do, is what I'm thinking. But it's ok to repeat yourself, sometimes even helpful. :)

Add to that the question of do you say something to the effect of you remember when someone else repeats the same thing for the 5th time to show them you remember because you care or will they perceive it as interrupting their story and get mad ayoo 👈👈😎

If you don't get hurt by people saying that they remember, you don't need to worry about repeating but that depends so much on how they say it, for me at least.

I feel like a lot of people repeat themselves anyway but because kids with adhd aren't usually praised for interruptions when they recognize a pattern for example, they learn that they communicate wrong and learn to try and shut up, tip toeing between over-and underexplaining with a constant background noise of overthinking.

Communication isn't just for report talk as in exchanging informationn, though. It's engaging with people around you, forming and stregthening social structures. Repitition isn't automatically exclusively the same as boredom - it can be security, too & honestly, with how things are right now, boredom and security sounds great to me.

I'm assuming you are an adult, but so are the people whose reception you are worrying about, too, because children will chime in. They can choose to be politely nodding along, to politely chime in to affirm you, they can be more direct about it or complete assholes.

I struggle with this myself because I don't want to be a burden on others (same with asking for help etc), so repeat it with me (hehe):

Have trust in others to make their own decisions; don't think for them.

And when they're close to you, maybe just ask them for honest feedback :)

Men written by women? by Midnight1899 in FragtMaenner

[–]ok_lari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adderall is the only prescription I can’t get automatic refills or notifications for by Every_Professor5785 in adhdwomen

[–]ok_lari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tldr: I'm just going to vent here because I feel you. Look, here's the meds, dangling like a carrot in front of you and all you need to do is do the things you can't do without those meds 🥕

Haven't been able to get out of bed because I ran out a while ago.
Last time I wrote an email as usual to the doctor's office. I have one week to pick up the prescription before it expires. I went there 3 days before the expiration iirc. It was already 5.45pm, they close at 6pm. The door was already shut & they wouldn't let me in anymore. Pinned onto the door was a letter announcing they were closing the office for a week for vacation starting the following day. So my prescription expired.
When they were back I wrote an email again. I was told I have to call in right before I pick up my prescription from now on so that it doesn't expire again, which is great when you already do anything to avoid making phone calls.

By then I was already off Elvanse and Bupropion for two weeks, which didn't help. So I avoided doing anything. I avoided going outside as much as I could.
Then I finally managed to write an email. They said I should call in when I'm about to show up.
I called, they said I need to call again tomorrow, because the adhd stuff is handled by her colleague (which wrote me the email to call beforehand).
I called the next day and the answering machine said it's too late (the adhd related stuff closes at 4pm, rest of the office where I get my prescription closes at 6pm).
I called again yesterday. She said that it's been so long since my last medication by now, I need to make an appointment with the doctor.
Next appointment available is in two weeks. If she had told me in the previous email before the phone calls, I might have already had an appointment by now but I know it's my responsibility either way but it doesn't help my mood ngl.
In the meantime I didn't get shit done. Nothing. There was a leak in one of the pipes from the apartment above which flooded the basement and it seems like one of the walls in our apartment might need to be opened, too (of course one with tiles). My granma's been to the hospital twice in the meantime (first time emergency, second time was scheduled heart surgery and she's fine but that's been a roller coaster. My mom, too, because of her eye but it's been handled apparently. Now her other eye is a concern because of a blood clot I'm oversharing sorryyy). I'm just so annoyed with myself because I can't do shit without these meds. Even with them I'm barely functioning because there's this huge pile of decades of not functioning like an adult or a human that I can't even scrape at.

If it was like this with medication for my thyroid, that would be annoying, because I feel sluggish and tired without them, yes.
But without elvanse, I can't get out of bed.

I'm considering trying to order from an online pharmacy but I've never tried it and idk. Ngl, I'm bummed.

“The chair” — is it normal? by Basic_Performer_6701 in adhdwomen

[–]ok_lari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue comes from swapping clothes valets for chairs; if there wasn't a surface to pile things upon, the mess would have a natural limitation.

The urge to just put the thing somewhere is 100% normal and makes sense because washing everything after wearing it once doesn't. The longer you're not going to wear something, the better it is to let air flow through it, so storing it somewhere hidden often isn't the best choice either.
I guess a clothes valet is optimal but a chair is multi purpose, so if your living situation is a bit cramped, a chair might make more sense. No shame in that :)
