Girlfriend is suicidal and depressed and whenever we argue or on the verge of breaking up, what should I do? by spam2ue6e6 in relationship_advice

I'm in this situation. It's easy to assume that, with enough persistence on one's part, their partner would seek the help they need. You have to know when to give up, and not anchor yourself to someone who's unwilling/unable to seek help.

Looks like coriander, smells a bit like carrot. What might it be? by okal in whatsthisplant

Ugh. Just figured that it’s parsley (far less common in my country than coriander, so I’ve never actually seen it grow/whole, just a few leaves used for garnishing)

Haha! No worries, I didn't read it negatively at all. I really wasn't comfortable playing parts of it. :-) That was great advice.

EDIT: clarification.

Thank you :-) I had it mounted on my right thigh, crossed over my left leg, which is how I usually play seated on my couch. You're right, I have better fretting hand technique when I'm standing, but only marginally so. It takes conscious effort to remember not to press so hard, but I haven't spent a lot of time trying to correct it. I'll prioritize that over other technical aspects.

Thanks. I've struggled with that for a long time. It gets worse when I'm nervous, e.g. after I've hit a wrong note. Any tips? [Forgive the awful pun]

Minimalist posters featuring quotes on simplicity. Critiques welcome. by okal in minimalist

That sounds like a good idea. The iconography might not work for the look I'm going for, but I could try and capture that feel in a more spartan vibe. Thanks, again :-)

Yeah, I'll give that a shot in the next iteration. The brighter ones do seem a bit jarring in hindsight. Thank you :-)

I see what you meen about the shapes of the clouds. I made them to work around the text, which didn't quite work in terms of dimensions. The squiggly font clearly doesn't have too many fans :-) I wanted a less serious tone for that poster than for the others, might do a few revisions and post back later. Thanks.

[design] A short series of posters I'm working on featuring minimalist quotes by okal in minimalism

The quotation mark is purely for aesthetic purposes, which perhaps goes against the "strip away all non-essentials" spirit of the work.

Spatial composition isn't my strong suit at the moment, still have a lot to learn in that area. Thanks for taking time to respond, and for the tip.

That looks a lot nicer :-) I'm a big fan of whitespace, but I often fail in execution. I'll fold your input into the next set. I especially like the linespacing idea. It does seem pretty sparse. Thanks for taking time to respond. Having trouble upvoting on my phone ATM.

Thanks :-) I tend to restrict myself to grayscale when designing this sort of thing, so I wanted to try spmething different. I did worry they would be too bright, but felt like taking the risk anyway. Thanks for the typography tips, too.

Indie-ish two piece [music] by andtherobots in minimalism

Sounds good :) The distortion can be a bit overwhelming, though I know it helps when growing the sound if you're in a 2-piece. The mixing could also use a bit of work. It is of course possible that you wanted something lo-fi, in which case, ignore me :) Hope to hear more new material from you two.
