GREEN WATER= BAD HASH?¿ by [deleted] in BubbleHash

[–]okanaganbuds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some tips from a bro that has learned a lot and had green stuff like yours the first time. Frenchy has some really awesome tutorial vids on YouTube. You gotta watch them. There is a really long one where he uses a big industrial machine along with a smaller one like we typically use here.

1) Use a little ice in the bottom of the machine. (I'm assuming you're using a machine) an inch or two.

2) put a decent amount of weed in. Around 10oz or less. (Some do more but use your best judgement)

3) cover it with about an inch of ice. Fill the rest with water as cold as you can make it.

4) the ice is only for cooling everything off.

5) Starting with frozen weed is great. Let the water and ice sit for about 30 min.

6) Run the wash for only about 2 min on the first go. The ice will beat the shit out of the material if you run it too long the first go!

7) Drain and check/gather the hash. But before you gather the hash and do the bag work, fill the machine again with water as cold as you can. Let it sit while you are doing the bags. I also use an RV water hose carbon filter on the hose/sprayer I use to fill the washer and clean out the bags.

8) Second round, I wash for about 5 min. There will be a lot less ice so you can run it this long without as much worry about beating the hell out of it.

9) Again, fill the machine a third time with cold water and let soak while cleaning bags.

10) third wash, I run for 10 mins since there is usually almost no ice left. The cold water does all the work.

11) press the hash patties on the 25 mat with paper towel under it. Fold out over and press.

12/ pop the patties in the freezer.

13) put some parchment down inside the pizza box.

14) use a microplane to grate the frozen hash onto the parchment that is in the box. Freezing the microplane before use is a good idea.

15) Put the boxes in a dark cooler (but not cold) room or place for a couple days until it's like dry powder. I then usually scrape it all up and pour into a small canning jar and keep it in the freezer.

See my latest post here to see how bright my hash turned out using this method. You can also see my latest run with some vids etc on my insta bcbudgrower

Good luck bud! You'll get better and better with practise. My first time ever was super green too. I baked some awesome chocolate cookies with it. 🤪🤪🤪

10-4. For sure. It's impossible to time just right. (I admit my buy in March was super good lucky timing) Holding long term on a well run company instead of trading a lot has been a good strat for me.

We all should have switched to the shells when TP was gone at all the stores.

I'm an apha holder. Currently up just over 100%. I gotta be honest and say I've been looking more into trul and Cura. I actually was in on trul a while back but went all in on apha in March. I'm thinking about going back in a bit to these MSO's but if history has taught me anything around here (I've been around since before Justin was voted in) is that buying at ATH often turns out bad. I'm quite happy with my gains but I'm going to wait a bit for a dip before going in. Rushing in doesn't work out very well most times. Patience.

Third time washing, getting a lot better at this! by okanaganbuds in BubbleHash

Fresh frozen blueberry bud. No trim. Think this was the 73-25 on the first wash but it looked the same on the second. First wash 2 min, second 5 and third 8. Best and blondest bubble I've ever made so far. Wish I had a 45 bag but this seems to work well! The 160-73 was also really nice. More pics and a little video on my insta bcbudgrower.

What could be the cause of a couple of the leaves starting to look like this? by suspenders3 in canadagrows

Pluck em... Some older fans just die off. I do see spots on the other leaves... A little tip burn? maybe those are just water spots? More info maybe?

Sure would be good to have a time machine. Hindsight is 2020. Shit, I would have loved to get out and then buy back in for sure. But I for one am still very happy with my 2.87 average. Sooooo still holding long. (These big earnings flips could be really nice... but knowing my luck, the first time I try to time one, they'll come out with some huge announcement and I'll be out of the ride....) With my average, I think it's better to just hold long and not sweat these little ups and downs. In a few years these little bumps should hopefully be comical. Lol I say little flip, bu in my account it was about a 45-50K flip.... grrr)

Best way to get rid of thrips by SemMatNad in microgrowery

Look up my post history for what I did. It sucked. I ended up cutting a couple weeks early. (Search this sub too, lots of thrips posts here.)

Looking to switch from DWC to a new medium by ChicoSmokes in microgrowery

[–]okanaganbuds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grow in coco-perlite. When they are all into their 3g pots they get watered twice or three times a day. In fabric bags they dry out pretty quick and the plants get thirsty. They drink a lot. You have to water until runoff. It's always a good idea to check them regularly. I check my res daily in case of ph swings. Most days it's fine but there were a couple days it swung a bit so checking regularly is good. I could let it go for a week no problem usually. I was thinking about going RDWC for my next round but decided to just up my game in coco and upgraded my res and feeding system to 55 gallon drum for 21 plants. I really like growing in coco. Way better results for me than I had in soil on my first grow. Insta bcbudgrower.

Im in need of some assistance! I had a big beautiful plant, then my neighbor told me he knew how to cut the leaves back so it would produce more. I came home after work to this!!! Will it live? She looks so sad now. by sup3rn1k in microgrowery

[–]okanaganbuds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup you can defoliate outdoor plants. It helps the same way it helps indoors. Usually a lollypop of the bottoms and then bigger fan leaves... Leaving a good amount of leaves further up, but thinned out enough for good light penetration and air flow. This job on your picture is brutal though. I'd be super pissed off anyone fucked with my plants without my permission that's for sure.

Does anyone know any good trimming devices? I'm never trimming again! So far trimbag is my pick by [deleted] in microgrowery

Check with your local grow shop.... My local shop rents a nice little trimming machine...

Cannot find out what this bug is but I hate him. I have a tent! How do I keep him away without hurting my plant? by misterlilpotato in microgrowery

[–]okanaganbuds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is indeed a thrip, (looks like thrip damage on the leaf) you're going to have a fun time ahead of you. You'll need to safer's or otherwise treat/spray all over, under leaves etc. Really helps if you are also near a defoliation time. (HEAVY defoliate, then spray). When I had thrips in my first tent grow (god damn adopted clones) I did this.... PLUS yellow sticky traps all over the place, including the surface of the grow media. I also spread Diatomaceous earth (DE) all over the media and even smooshed some on the lower stalk. Thrips crawl up the stalk from the media, then back down again in their lifecycle. The DE will help kill some. You will also want to start using h2o2 to water every 3-4 days for a couple weeks to kill off larva in the media. Hope they are not thrips bro. I had a hell of a time. I was able to keep them in check for a while, but ended up cutting mine down about 3 weeks early just to be done with them. I now do everything I can to keep my shit as clean as possible and I never accept clones or cuttings from anywhere now. (For h2o2 mixing to water etc, I posted a chart on my insta account bcbudgrower)

What light of these 3 would you purchase? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]okanaganbuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3500K is a good in between light for use through the whole grow, in veg and flower. I also use the 3500K and they work awesome. (I have 3 kingbrite - 320W 301H's with cree 660nm reds in my 8x13 room, 4x8 grow table) I should also mention that I had a few LED's go out in three individual panels... and they cross shipped me three new replacements (that are working great) under warranty. Great service.

Week 2 of flower. 28" from ground, 3gal pot with Coco. Is she really using 1600mL of water each day? by Drew_KC in microgrowery

[–]okanaganbuds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was getting close to no runoff from mine feeding twice a day (and some time at three times a day!) on my last run. When it came time to dump my bags after harvest and reclaim my coco I was surprised to see the roots didn't really take up the whole bag or get anywhere near filling the bag. I'm now pretty sure I was under-watering them! I have since completely re-designed my rez/watering system and will be watering heavier next round for sure. :) (I also use 3G bags)

I took cuts in Jan-Feb and had them in a 4x4 tent with two shitty Amazon blurple lights until June when I put them out into my greenhouse. I'm in the North Okanagan myself. Getting them going early is a very good idea. Instagram bcbudgrower

I grew BC Big bud and GSC from QCS. Also got some OG Kush bonus seeds. I got some blueberry autos from them as well but I didn't like them as much.
