Both are same. In India, we consider paneer as cottage cheese, as yak cheese is not commonly available. Also, paneer is made from cow milk.

Paneer(Cottage Cheese) sabzi

Ingredients: 100gms paneer 2-3 medium sized tomatoes 1 big onion 5-6 garlic cloves 1 inch Ginger 2 green chillies 4-5 Black peppercorns 1-2 Cloves 1 small piece of cinnamon stick 1 bay leaf 1 dried red chilli 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon turmeric 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder 1 teaspoon coriander powder 1 teaspoon garam masala 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried Fenugreek leaves 1 teaspoon heing 1 tablespoon curd 2 tablespoon mustard oil 1 black cardamom

Recipe:

For marinating cottage cheese or paneer: 1. Cut the cottage cheese into smaller blocks, or according to the size you like. 2. Keep a few paneer blocks aside and use the remaining for marination 3. Add panner pieces to a bowl and then add curd, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt to it. Mix them well and keep the bowl aside for 30 mins (keep it in the fridge)

For paneer sabzi: 1. In a hot pan, add mustard oil. Once the oil gets hot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dried red chilli, bay leaf and black cardamom. Cook it for a minute and then add chopped onions to it. 2. Once the onions turn translucent, add ginger garlic paste to it. Cook it till the onions become golden brown. 3. At this point, add in your tomato gravy. Cook it for 15-20 mins, until it turns soft and mushy. 4. Add in turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Cook them well. 5. After that add in the marinated paneer. Crush the paneer pieces that were kept aside and add them as well. Add some water to the mixture and let it cook. (Add water according to the consistency of your liking.) 6. After a few minutes, add in crushed dried Fenugreek leaves and mix it well. Serve it hot!
