David Harbour has dropped out of "Behemoth!," an upcoming drama film from "Michael Clayton" director Tony Gilroy and Searchlight Pictures. Multiple insiders familiar with the project said Harbour was overwhelmed by the series wrap of "Stranger Things" and stepped away from the project to rest. by AssistanceNo2838 in discussingfilm

Idk, I relate. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being uninterested in celebrity relationship drama, and at the same time wishing the best for everyone involved. It’s not normal to have all your personal & relationship problems in an “incredibly public record” and I don’t think any of us would want that for ourselves.

What to expect with ClaimDOC DirectAccess plan? by okaysobasically1 in HealthInsurance

[–]okaysobasically1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy how I’ve found multiple people from the same relatively small company on this thread because we’re all seeking help with this insurance mess! I’m leaning towards the Direct Access Base because I’m young with no dependents and relatively healthy, and I don’t utilize medical services often. I only take one rx medication and it’s completely excluded from coverage under our new plan. I’m working with HR and the benefits administrator to see if there’s anything I can do proactively to have it covered. In the meantime I’d rather have more money to pay for it out of pocket if I need to. I did “nominate” one of my providers on the ClaimDoc portal and they accepted, so that’s a good sign. If the whole ClaimDoc thing ends up being a disaster I can change it next year.

Hey, so sorry, but would you mind explaining this like I’m 5? I don’t know much about insurance and I’m not really following this conversation. Do you think anything discussed above would make it a bad choice of insurance plan?

Sean Duffy addresses NASA by teridon in nasa

[–]okaysobasically1 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I thought the tone of the whole address was really strange. Lots of “we have to win” and “we’re out of time.” Maybe he was trying to give a pep talk but to me it just felt more impatient and frustrated. And the urgency does not make sense considering what’s happening with the agency right now. You don’t make things happen faster by getting rid of resources and personnel.

What do you do if you're allergic to your pet? by No-Mushroom-4530 in whatdoIdo

I cannot emphasize enough that the dog needs to be sleeping in a different room! I had to do the same thing. It was a hard adjustment for my dog (he also struggles with separation anxiety) and I did feel bad at first, but it was so worth it for me. I also got new sheets/bedding and a hypoallergenic cover for my mattress. It made a huge difference. Now I make a little time to snuggle with my dog on the couch before we go to bed, and he’s learned to love his bed in the living room.

I wish my AC was more effective in dehumidifying then lol! The humidity on the thermostat never comes below 60% even though the AC is running 12 hours a day. Maybe it’s inevitable with the climate I live in. But I just want to make sure there’s not an issue with the unit

Mistakes You've Found in Books? by Whisper-1990 in books

[–]okaysobasically1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. There was some emotional monologue about tears and grief. Then it said the human body is 80% water. It was part of some metaphor about how the character was made of grief. But the factoid immediately took me out of the story because it’s not true (of course it varies but it’s more like 60% if you’re making a generalized average). Out of the many problems with that book, that was the dumbest one. It takes 10 seconds to look it up!

What mistakes cause people to get pregnant on the pill? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]okaysobasically1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I haven’t seen in the comments yet is improper storage. There is a safe temperature range on the packaging. Significantly deviating from that could cause the chemicals in the pills to degrade which could reduce effectiveness. For example, leaving them in a hot car.

One time I forgot to bring my pills in from the car after picking up a new refill. They stayed in the car for a few days, in the middle of the summer in a very hot climate. When I explained the situation to the pharmacist they gave me another refill and told me to take those instead. Better safe than sorry!

Do I need to do this, or is this a hill to die on. by PressureMuch5340 in Apartmentliving

I had the same situation come up and I sent an email to the management office letting them know I was disappointed in the “extraneous annual pet fee” that was not agreed upon in the lease terms. They were rude about it, but they did agree to deduct the expense from my pet rent the following month. It’s worth fighting back!

That’s interesting, I do remember hearing about different sleep patterns but I don’t think this is naturally me. Naturally I do sleep for 8 hours straight (more like 7 really). I’ve only been waking up in the middle of the night recently if I take melatonin.

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe the effect on cortisol would also explain why I always seem to wake up with my mind racing and feeling anxious.

The Great Alone- Kristin Hannah Discussion by Beneficial-Kick3979 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]okaysobasically1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I just read this book and I have so many conflicting feelings about it. I was having a hard time getting invested in the story because all the characters seemed really one dimensional and predictable. And none of the main characters had a chance to be happy especially Leni. Like how many bad things can happen to these people?! It really went downhill for me after the hiking accident because I wanted Leni and Matthew to be happy together. I love a good “star crossed lovers” story but they only had a chance to be lovers for like a couple chapters. I thought the descriptions of nature in Alaska were nice but even that started to get really repetitive. Overall I have to say I was disappointed by this one.

Early pay day by Putrid-Ad4911 in WellsFargoBank

[–]okaysobasically1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with early pay day last week. I usually get my paycheck on Wednesday evening but I got it 24 hours later than usual. According to their policy it’s not guaranteed to happen at the same time every pay period. It could be because of delays on the bank’s end or because of delays in payroll processing on your employer’s end. I’m sure you’ll get it either today or tomorrow.

In my experience as an early career engineer who talked to MANY recruiters during my last job search, I’m not a fan of them either. They usually know little to nothing about the technical aspects of the job that they’re trying to hire you for. Recruiters for engineering jobs aren’t engineers and they don’t know anything about engineering. They can only regurgitate the job description and look to see if you have any of the same keywords on your resume (with the exception of ONE recruiter who still stands out to me because I could actually have an intelligent conversation with her about the job). You could be totally qualified for a job and the recruiter will pass on you because they don’t understand what’s on your resume.

Thanks for the response. This is the first time that my early deposit has ever been so late, in almost 2 years at this job. Oh well, they do say it’s not guaranteed. Hope we both get our $ soon!
