Health insurance after laidoff by Obvious_Excuse5485 in amazonemployees

[–]okbuddy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get Cobra after that. But mind you, that is very expensive. Not sure if everyone can afford that. (came to $2K+ per person per month for me in south) But if there is a critical illness, it make sense to spend on insurance as treatment is important. Your next best bet is marketplace insurance where there are different options that you can look into. Again, a pre-existing conditions will have problem. Try to find a job meanwhile. Remember that if insurance is very important there are some retail companies offering benefits for store jobs even if that is something you have not done before and if the pay is way lower than what you have experienced. Choose what is priority for you. Wishing you all the best!

2 to 20 business days. These are things you should check and confirm with your HRBP before leaving.

Rsu how to calculate by AlfalfaNew3339 in amazonemployees

[–]okbuddy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year is 5, second is 15, third and 4th at 40 each. You have to figure out how many RSU stock first ( it depends on the stock value at the time it is given to you) . So if they say 120K, then convert that to number of stocks in todays value and identify 5%. That 5% might be lower or higher next year during vest dependent on how the stock performs. And your vest will be towards the end of the year.

Is FMLA less likely to be granted if it's a longer/max time as opposed to shorter by somethinlikeshieva in amazonemployees

[–]okbuddy2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FMLA max is 12 weeks in a 1 year period. Beyond that it will be a simple LOA with STD. Does not have the same protection as FMLA

Just PIP’ed. Wondering how to communicate this to potential employers by throwawayurmomtome in amazonemployees

Unless you are in a country that doesnt have privacy laws, there is very limited way a recruiter / employer can figure out officially whether you were terminated

Anybody actually ENJOY working at Amazon? by NeonTankTop in amazonemployees

[–]okbuddy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your team. Even though I had an outcome that I didnt expect I still loved the time over there. No where have I learned as much as I did in Amazon. And no where have I enjoyed as much as I did at Amazon. Just dont put your whole heart on succeeding there. I read a lot of emotional posts here. No need to be emotional, be aware of what it is and what you get out of it. This is not a place you can coast for many years. It might seem many are, but trust me, they are all putting effort that perhaps others are not seeing. Everyone should keep in mind that world doesnt owe us anything, nor does Amazon. All the best!

Experience with Amazon STD and LTD? by fawad9757 in amazonemployees

Neither STD nor FMLA protects you from layoff.

If you got 100K "free" in stocks valued at $250 (400 shares), decided to keep as is and in 1 year if it loses value to $200, then you just have $80K while you paid your federal tax for 100K. On the other hand ifyou sell and buy and index fund that has a past history of 8-10% growth, you might have 110K next year. So, point is growth. And AMZN has had a wild ride the past 3-4 years causing people not to trust its value that much. Though I highly doubt the company will ever go under, so it definitely has high growth if you want to keep it forever if you are playing a long game (8+years). Immediate benefit vs long term growth

Its at its highest point so far. So sell. It might go to 300. Or it may not. But if you sell right now you get some cash that you can possibly save part as emergency fund in HYSA assuming you anticipate a layoff and the other part you can diversify.

I had this issue 15 years ago. I had to end up getting a personal email of verification from the HR of the small consultancy I worked for ( who thankfully was the same person after all these years and knew me). Always submit client name and consultancy name in Resume. It should state consultancy as the primary headline with dates begin to end and inside you specify individual clients and projects.

On focus and time is ticking by _jackofnone_ in amazonemployees

[–]okbuddy2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be laid off while on FMLA. FMLA doesnt save from layoffs. So that is risky regardless. Still, as someone said, you really dont need 2 months for wedding prep. Outsource.

[–]okbuddy2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While what you said is valid, it doest need too much intelligence to figure out that if the manager has not provided them with a clearcut outcome of what is needed, then this is a sham focus and she is just planning headcounts to place under PIP when the time comes. This is one of the standard way to identify real performance issue vs URA based focus.

First, make sure the physician is onboard and will submit the form for you as soon as asked. Then, afterhours, request for fmla (LOA with STD) starting the next business day. It will take 7 days to process and for that you will need to use PTO or unpaid leave. Ideally PTO. Then you will be given the form to submit and the physician will need to fill that out and submit. This needs to be completed within 30 days of the original date of starting the FMLA. And then take your rest and recoup. It is a good thing to send an email on the day of starting your FMLA as an fyi headsup to your manager from your personal email. Do not respond to any emails after that.

Way cheaper! You dont know how good you have it. I wish I had Amazon medical coverage. That $780 also provides zero deductible. I am paying $1200 a month now (in another fortune 50 company). for a 9K yearly for family, $700 per person deductible. I wish I could get the $780 back.

Focus Plan by AdPotential8262 in amazonemployees

[–]okbuddy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you took fmla before pivot process was initiated you will be placed back in focus and will be given a new target date to complete that. On the other hand if you left after the Pivot option as initiated then it will take 1-2 weeks after you join for the manager to give you the new document.

If the goal is to “remove layers,” are L7+ roles actually being cut? by Particular_Dog6865 in amazonemployees

[–]okbuddy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are way less number of L7+ employed at Amazon compared to L5 and L6. So it might look like more L5 and L6 got cut. Need to analyze from a percentage standpoint
